It's not that there's an additional layer, the rendering of the view was always there, just tightly coupled to fetching data from the DB. It is now a better practice to create a BFF that can serve more clients than just browsers.

The answer here is to make the action easily reversible if possible.

I shudder at the thought of this syntax being used for anything longer than that example. “)))))))” everywhere. Not sure why you would want your css to not be declarative

That syntax looks arbitrary and frankly, hell to mantain. The cost:benefit ratio of learning all these idioms ("idioms", a huge red flag) doesn't seem efficient at all. I apologize for being blunt, yet I still recognize your

A small library function like document.getElementById?

This is the culmination of the "everyone should code" movement. Is this really what you want?

It is more profitable to have a healthy relationship with your client than building a shitty product and hoping you'll never run out of clients. What makes you think that about consultancies?

Why can't you run a db server on a container?

You're drawing from quite a lot of assumptions. Consider that until recently, "front-end" work was done mostly on the server.

Why not? Performance critical parts can be compiled down, which i'm sure most data store libraries already are

Your blog post 404s for me :( That aside, it astonished me how quickly intellisense popped up. This is great. I believe Microsoft hosts a similar app iirc

Is it too early to call rails apps developed 10 years ago "legacy"?

How much of that is sunk cost fallacy? Of course you'd feel better

Such as? Still no examples, I see. Without a real architecture you don't get to complain that a hamhanded solution is less than optimal

Delegate the business logic to a server, I'm not sure what kind of "real business logic" needs to live in a mobile app

This thread is exactly why "js developer" gets stereotyped. Try looking at egghead.io tutorials; Dan Abramov has a series showing the implementation of redux and it really is quite tiny. It solves one problem and solves it well: e

You should read some of the comments in that codebase. (Look for the constant MAX_REACTION_ITERATIONS). I don't know why you'd paint yourself into a corner like that. Just curious, how can you test a mobx store independently? (San

Have you read the source? It's far heavier than redux. Computed properties and observables that can potentially change other observables sounds like a recipe for spaghetti IMO. @observer seems like the same thing as connect(), but it p

This is cool! I like how you've iterated on a central concept (NLP) with different codebases. Tip: The link to the source is pointing to github pages, which hasn't been set up.

Even with state, his code is overly verbose and can be expressed in a much more idiomatic way. var weAreConnected = Math.floor(Math.random() * 10) > 5; if (weAreConnected === true) { this.setState({ isConnected: t
