Thanks for the tip- that was pretty entertaining. Love the design and attention to detail...up arrow repeats last command. It's a refreshing departure from typical info sites and aimed well at the target.

Patrick has earned trust in the community by giving away so much valuable information. My first thought was that it's about time you sold some of this info. The reason is great: "I got tired of saying no." Good stuff, and thanks for all the

Chargify user here. Love chargify, hate the merchant account fees I pay each month. For subscription SaaS products, is this now a viable alternative to a merchanct account with a recurring payment service on top?

Just looked at your timeforzen project and think it's great. Sorry it didn't get as much attention as you'd like, but one thing that HN can help you learn is how to pitch. You'll run into the same issues in the market, only it's more diffic

Hands-down the hardest part for me: "Unfortunately, a post is never “finished” and you can always make improvements. At some point, after you’ve iterated a few times on your work, you just have to let go and post." Any tips on getting bette

If you look at the comments on his post announcing the book, the majority are asking for a kindle/ebook version. He implies that it was easier to get going with a printed version, but I just don't understand how that's possible. I would lov

I remember thinking they wouldn't make it in the mid-90s. I had just bought one of the pizza box PowerMacs and it felt like an expensive mistake. Now it's $14B in profit for the quarter. It took my company all of 2011 to earn in EBITDA what

It works great. In fact, it recommends such good movies that I'm almost guaranteed to have seen them many times already. Ferris, Outlaw Josie Wales, Back to the Future. All are perfect picks for me, but it might be neat to add a few lesser

This is, of course, happening in a lot of apps and websites. I wrote a quick note about making it easier to understand TOS here: http://clearsignal.posterous.com/do-we-value-our-laundry-mor... . Within minutes, olefoo pointed out that htt

Amazing. This is why I like HN. I just wrote up a quick note with an example image here: http://clearsignal.posterous.com/do-we-value-our-laundry-mor... When I get back, link to actual example. Thanks!

Even if Path buried this disclosure deep in a TOS page, would anyone read it? I just posted a startup idea I have to generate easy-to-read summaries from website TOS pages: http://clearsignal.posterous.com/do-we-value-our-laundry-mor...

This reminds me of the debate on Path's address book upload activity. I don't think it was malicious. It could be covered in a TOS update. But I rarely read the TOS for a site. When I do, it's a serious investment of time to understand what

Don't waste time worrying about how to succeed as an introvert. You'll find examples of successful communicators, entrepreneurs, leaders, and CEOs that are all introverts. I would write more about examples and experience, but back to point

There is a competitive advantage for startups that embrace this. Hipmunk gets a lot of their user experience love by eliminating the single digit content problem that Stephen describes here vs. Expedia, Travelocity, etc. They even have a sl

I love easy-to-engage sites like this. I have long-time java dev team members that I've been encouraging to learn ruby. This makes it easy to invite them in and give them a taste. Array manipulation alone should be enough to pique interest.

It's been fascinating to follow Drew's story from the link to the early video on HN, to the YC application as a solo-founder to a "nine-digit" offer. This speaks to the importance of a good product. When Dropbox was pitched early on, everyo
