I had one business meeting there, which included Linus and Steve Chamberlain, the creator of Cygwin. It looked like a fun place to work.

I first met Rasmus during my pre-internet BBS days in Toronto, and reached out to him shortly after moving to the Bay Area in '95 when he told me about his pet "Personal Home Page" project. What an amazing trajectory!

If you use any of the Emacs hosted mail readers, org-mode is tremendously useful for tracking actions/TODOs. I use it with GNUS and the org agenda mode is how I organize my work (enterprise sales). It was a game-changer for me.

Low traffic, but https://rl.gl is running production on SBCL (on kubernetes). Common Lisp is a joy.

I saw an actor get stabbed for real on stage in a production of Julius Caesar at the Stratford theater (Ontario, Canada). It was a long time ago, and not googleable. IIRC the retractable knife was broken. It happens. He finished his scen

Don't do this... You only need the connection for development purposes, so use "kubectl port-forward", which gives you the auth you'll need as well.

ivan4th had the right answer. Use the "kubectl port-forward" command. BTW, here's a k8s-hosted app I wrote using this approach: https://github.com/atgreen/red-light-green-light

Common Lisp is also a pleasure to use for k8s-hosted services. Just deploy your Lisp-based service to k8s, forward the sly/slime port to your local system, and continue to work on it interactively with emacs and sly/slime. It&#x

Another Red Hat associate here... Using OpenShift doesn't necessarily mean managing your own infrastructure. There are a number of cloud-based managed OpenShift offerings out there from multiple vendors, including Microsoft. But you

The author explained that his version of podman (0.9.3) required root, but version 1.0 doesn't. And, indeed, version 1.0 does not. I use it regularly. It's an amazing improvement over the docker tooling. [disclaimer: I work fo

I think you meant to write "(and the upstream community version, OKD)", because OpenShift is also fully open source.

This can't be new, is it? I graduated with a BSc in Cognitive Science and Artificial Intelligence from the University of Toronto almost 30 years ago. I still have my varsity jacket with an "AI" shoulder patch.

I work in the field at Red Hat, specifically with the banks (where you are, it seems). We get OpenShift, OpenStack, and more running in prod in both air-gapped, and ssl-proxied environments with full re-encrypt. Reach out if you need help

libffi author here... Did you consider writing a purpose-built JIT compiler? I believe the FFI use-case is narrow enough that a tiny hand-written JIT compiler would be pretty easy... like the old QEMU template based JIT.

You hook AWX up to git or similar. It will pull playbooks, etc, from git before execution. I was a Tower sceptic at first, but it's actually really great. (edit: disclaimer .. I am a Red Hat employee!)

My view is that the 'blockchain' hype has forced a conversation in the FI community around disintermediation and allowed them to invest in process optimization under the guise of blockchain innovation. I agree that the real innov

By calling Moby the "OSS version" you are implying that Docker EE isn't open source. Honest question... is it true that Docker EE contains proprietary code, or did you mean to say "community version"?
