I think CSS3 is absolutely awesome, but I worry about using it because it's so new. I wonder how many people looking at my sites (here in Japan) will be using browsers that render it properly. Statistics for my own homepage seem to indicate

Never seen that before... I'd think something like a white top hat on black or vice versa would be a simple silhouette that would be descriptive, if there isn't anything.

How about a photo app that lets them put half-eaten sticks of ice cream into pictures? Or one that lets them use ice cream on a stick to scribble melty graffiti onto pictures? I know I'm stretching here, but...!

Hmm, Ballmer's particular style seems to be less conducive to cooperation and than Cook's, so I feel like Cook would still work well with the team at Apple like he has in the past, but I could be wrong!

It sounds like a great idea to me! You can also get a look at prospective employees and see how well they learn/deal with the unknown.

How about something fun that people can share? Make a free app that lets people make their own ice cream cones by picking flavors for scoops and adding toppings. Or let them make ridiculous banana splits. Let people share them with friends

The situations may be somewhat similar, I think, but the people are completely different. Tim Cook seems to be much more personally driven and quiet, focused on results and numbers whereas Ballmer comes across more as pushy and loud. This a

I've always been a fan of typing things out in notepad++ and never even realized that there were CSS preprocessors. What's the advantage of using them versus using raw CSS? It just seems like one more thing to learn, at this point...

Seems like an unfair comparison... using an iPhone and playing most games takes one finger to poke and/or drag. Tying shoelaces takes at least four fingers -- or even more, depending on what technique you're using. That's a lot of fine coor

I'm definitely outside the norm here, but I hate the trend toward video, especially in tutorials. I can read and absorb much faster than I can sit and watch a video -- it's also easier to go back and look at text. Mostly, though, it rubs me

Thanks for the offer, but looking over my finances, I don't think I'll be able to swing it for February, unfortunately... I'm trying to finish off my college loans! If you're still as obliging in March, I might take you up on that!

I'm interested, but on the fence. How many people usually go to these events? I live out in Gunma, so a train ticket and hotel room would be a pretty major investment for me.

It's interesting to see in the excerpt that he seems to have an "engineer's" concept of the future with respect to the all steel household. It's an ideal material from an engineer's perspective as he describes it: light, strong, long-lastin

I feel like the author (kijinbear?) focuses a bit too much on demonizing a culture of shame; nothing makes a culture of guilt inherently "better" or "worse" on any kind of absolute scale. Yes, there are high suicide rates in some developed

I suppose it's politically incorrect to say this, but perhaps it was terrorism and it was meant to be found out eventually, as a warning? In any case, some people would argue that being good enough to get the job done is good enough, regard

Hmm, among the native English speakers I've encountered here, the most common term used is "texting," perhaps because there IS no SMS function on the phones, so there's no distinction to be made.

For all practical intents and purposes, SMS and e-mails are the same thing for the non-technical end-user when they're easily accessible from a phone; use of either is referred to "texting." I never knew that about SMS, though... thanks for

It definitely is a scam. Here in Japan, text IS data -- SMS messages are just e-mail and every phone has a user-defined e-mail address, except for some cheapo phones that just have randomly generated strings. Data is charged by the packet,

Not being snarky here, but how about gmail? If you want pop3 or IMAP, you can do that in gmail. You can also tag/color e-mails based on which address they're coming from, set up reply-to, have a huge amount of space for archiving, Google se
