There's a difference between saying "You're fat, so we won't operate on you." versus "The pain that you hope to fix will become worse if we perform surgery on you." Surgeries that involve weight-bearing

"But there should not be blanket refusals to operate on fat people" I don't know anyone who would disagree with this sentiment. And the article doesn't present any evidence that there are blanket refusals. Sure, the arti

ADS-B is not drone specific, but it is very useful to make drones more safe. The problem in the real world is that many pilots of small aircraft refuse to use ADS-B. For some, there is concern about the government tracking their movements,

The horsepower ratings of engines in the hobby world are optimistic at best. I have personal experience with some RC airplane engines and a dyno, and frankly I don't understand how the manufacturers can keep advertising the numbers tha

I'll agree that memory and type issues are more of a barrier, but the variable naming is just convention of the programmer. There is a lot of legacy code where brevity in naming was emphasized, but that was just the convention of the t

Very nice work! I noticed a pretty significant bug (i think). The ghost character actually clears the checkpoints for the current rider! As an example, on level two, the rider must go right for checkpoint A, then left for checkpoint B, back

That's surprisingly light! Well done. I happened to fall into a flying group that is very serious and they obsess about weight. My personal flying skills are not to the same level, but they are competing in (and winning) several comp

This is a neat idea, but the tradeoff for the added flexibility is extra weight. In FPV racing, weight is everything.

Yep, the FAA does not distinguish between an RC aircraft and a drone. There's also been accidents with larger UAVs: http://www.suasnews.com/2012/05/15515/schiebel-s-100-crash-k...

Parachutes create additional failure modes. What if the parachute caught the athlete's arm or leg or ski? There's lots of ways it wouldn't work perfectly (sadly, I know from experience).

Your cost estimate is a little too low. The Zenmuse gimbal is about $2,200 alone (without the FLIR camera) and it's designed for use on the Phantom or Matrice platforms, both of which cost more than $3k. Total cost is likely in excess

No, I haven't looked at systemd source code. Does it have gotos hidden in macros, too? There are many practices that used to be common that we have learned should not be common. Hopefully a new project doesn't repeat the mistakes

Believe me, I know what it is. This just isn't the way to do it. Hiding a goto in a macro is bad. Hiding a goto in a nested macro is even worse. Sure, it's fine right now, but this is setting the project up for maintenance nightma
