It’s Facebook’s service, what did you expect. Also, recommending products based on your past experiences is something pretty much every service provides.

This feels like as a solution to the problem that does not exist. This just increases the complexity and makes the interface horribly fragmented and hard to develop for after a while.

Why not? A huge portion of developers uses Macs and windows support is coming at some point. Better to get an actual feedback from the developers.

Honestly, I’m pretty sure if you asked some random person if they would be willing to not be able to afford anything for cutting the ties with everything made in china, they would refuse.

There's a lot of complaining from the engineering side regarding the USB-C but for the customer it is godsend. Now instead of million little different ports, they can use one which in well-engineered (emphasis here) products will cover

They look kind of having their weights upside down. Usually the upper side is smaller so for an example 8 looks really weird.

I know this is hacker news but the fact that you don’t need to build the system yourself is the reason why it is so special. Most people want the product to work out of the box without any additional configuration.

It might be nice to some but man if you are not required to learn a dozen different paradigms to use it. It’s expensive (harder to teach) and not intuitive for a beginner.

Absolutely not, but it’s just that every single time it’s about japan even if it is not the first or the first country to do so. It’s the fetisishing of japan.

This is only popular here in HN because of japan. A lot of countries have used non-plastic paper for ages. But the ah always so mysterious japan makes it seem so interesting.

He might’ve been an influential figure, but he’s still a creep. Just because someone made something once doesn’t mean we should turn a blind eye towards them.

Context. Japan has a lot of homonyms and the people speaking it tend to not use the words pronounced the same in a sentence thus the meaning can be infered from the context.

The original games, how well loved they might be, are kinda awful to play on modern day standards though. I guess they are referencing how Mankind Divided ended kind of abruptly and deserves an sequel.

Slight nitpick, but they are not using the original vantablack with a thread like structure in here. The article states it is a new compound with a sponge like structure.

Having spent a year in japan, it’s not the country of the future nor is it the one west should look advice from. Nordic countries are much better on almost every aspect, but they’re not as ”exotic” as the mythical land of the rising sun.

Have you read japanese written only with hiragana? The language has so many homonyms it is hard to distinguish them from a text as it is a heavily context based language. I’d argue abolishing kanji and using only hiragana/katakana or r

A “public secret” is that autodesk pretty much gives free non-commercial student licenses to anyone, no relation to an actual education institution needed. Advertising it better would definitely help them I think:

I’m pretty sure a bag of rice is way more cheaper in the countries where it is produced versus the countries where it’s exported. In some countries it’s more expensive to be poor than in others.

Yes, globally, but that’s a completely different story in Europe where this story is based in. The global upper class is not the same as upper class in germany or in italy or in finland.
