Most programs don't deal with birth dates and people. It's like stating that most "computers" are neither on a desktop nor in a pocket. Technically correct, as counter-intuitive as it is.

That's what I thought. This list mixes "falsehoods" that nobody with a bit of common sense - even children - would believe, and pedantry that could be useful to 0.001% of developers. For most programs, Time starts in 1970.

To protect is always the initial goal, and directly dangerous videos are the low hanging fruits. I'd say "viral videos" are too recent to be part of History yet, but shutting down a dangerous viral video is not very far from

Definitely, and your example makes me understand the point of view of OP better: why wouldn't programs also be loadable libraries?

Maybe it looks weird now because libraries were collections of subroutines, then have evolved as sub-programs (some spawn their own threads to do their job), and then eventually got so big that they became the main program in which you plug

This type of circular argument sometimes hit a nerve when it about a thing cares about, but lets remember that the literal sense of "mediocre" is "middle" or "average", so its kind of a tautology to say that in

"We don't do that here" is a jewel of passive-aggressiveness. I clicked on the link hoping to find something related to "Not invented there", but ended up with a new way to issue heavy threats with small words.

It is useful mainly if you have to do some netprog in C, and secondarily if you have to deal with language bindings that do a 1:1 mapping to the BSD socket API. In other words, you will know when you need it - unless you forget it exists

Not the best example. The lack of quotes around file.scr is an extra-giant-huge hint that OPEN does some parsing, and therefore you should check the docs before using it in a definition (actually it is so very likely that it "won

"One" would be troublesome... Two is actually common, three is in the red zone, four you refactor. Except in specific cases where 4+ arguments doesn't cause stack juggling. Chuck Moore (inventor of Forth) said once that he do

I guess it depends on what you do. I usually work at low-level, so making lib interfaces myself is acceptable, but at a higher-level, one usually have to pile libs over libs to get anything done because that's the way things are done t

Multicore is not common at all in embedded, so there is no point in supporting that in this type of project. And even if you are in "fat" embedded (Raspi etc.), you might want to use just only one core anyway so that your system c
