I'd love to see a mapping service with dynamic projection functionality based on zoom and window view. The concept of one fixed projection doesn't account for the nature of digital mapping today.

FWIW Fastly invalidates objects, services, and batches of objects globally at ~150ms via an API. They have a different approach to wildcard/batch invalidation: it groups based on a prior-set header that can be programmatically based of

Contrary to popular belief, angels have no incentive to steal an idea they've been pitched on. More accurately, doing so is a net negative. Angels do a few things well: quickly vet a flood (sometimes dozens a day) of inbound deals to b

Legitimately, what would you propose instead if you were running Slack, or a company like Slack? Would you prefer to run a company that maintains a retainer for quality legal counsel in every nation (and potentially every state/provinc

That's almost assuredly what's happening in practice. Large companies/orders have the leeway to reasonably negotiate with Slack. In cases like that, the standard policies set the framework for where that negotiation begins.

I think the author made the core point in a footnote: "2. Thus the acquisition of Braintree" PayPal (though newly independent) is such a behemoth that no amount of product rearchitecture or rebranding is going to "beat"

This isn't related to this post in particular (congrats to the Honest Co. team), but I think HN would be a better place without constantly cross-posting funding announcements.

I agree with you, except for viewing the bootcamp as a negative. Self driven exploration and learning is key, but attending a bootcamp is itself indicative a good traits. In the "best" bootcamps applicants have to: - Quit their ol

The integrations that Atlassian tools provide are optimized for large businesses. One bill, SSO, bulk administration of users, etc. From a usability perspective, I'm not a fan of the Atlassian platform over other stacks, but they cater

People are making the valid comparison of Hipchat and Slack, which is to be expected. But, this is a deeper move by Atlassian. Atlassian's business model is still "All roads lead to JIRA/Confluence." It's why so man

Ageism is real, but if you start going to your local meetup groups, you'll be in good shape. As a young guy, I've discovered I have a bias for assuming all older people at a meetup have at least 15 years of experience on me. Some

It's definitely underhanded and classless. It would be like a MSFT infiltrating an Apple demo and trying to upstage Tim Cook. But, at this point, we're arguing values and philosophy, and nothing's going to come of it :)
