If Microsoft products are truly better than Google/Apple, they should move the conversation to those products, rather than discussing their competitors. I hear more about Chromebooks from this campaign than I do from Google's own

Did anyone really need convincing that the Scroogled campaign was childish? This campaign is so bad, it's going to be used in case studies for years to come. We're literally looking at history in the making with this campaign. If

Job boards start easily, but you'd be surprised at how much they can spiral into some of the most convoluted code you've ever seen. They're almost the exact definition of a scope creeping CRUD app. This is compounded by the f

The concept of social security as a form of investment/retirement account is a bit of a misconception. In reality, your immediate payments into social security are for the current population that is elderly or disabled. The "promi

It could be argued that VC involves the building of technology businesses, rather than simply investing in a hands off manner. It's a fine line, but the famous VCs that come to my mind (Doerr, Andreessen) help mentor and grow a company

I couldn't find any videos of shot towers in action, but I did find a video of a man demonstrating a handmade modern shot manufacturing machine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwVvdIFyQ0Q

Shoot an email to support@github.com with a link to your repository. A 500 isn't an intended feature :)

The belief that someone will produce their "best work" in a stress-filled deadline of _one project_ is shortsighted. If by "best work" you mean "maximum extraction in a short time frame," you're probably correct. But the belief that someone

You might want to try support at your company for a period of time. It sounds like your company may be agreeable to it, and it's easier than you might think. After communicating with users for a length of time, you might find that you're pa

Actually, there are no extra features with GH's paid plans, from what I remember. Paying enables private repositories, and all of the good stuff is still available for open source projects.

I wouldn't consider this abuse of the tool. I'm also learning a few things about the home improvement process from this. Isn't that the point of the open source movement -- shared knowledge for the improvement of others?

As much as I agree with you, your examples prove how little "regular" users consider this. With technologies that are historically user-unfriendly, such as email, individuals may be aware of the importance of separating work and personal, e

This very reason is actually why my company is migrating to Box. No one I work with is the type to jump ship on a company just for one feature, but this is a major liability. I'll still keep DB for my personal use, but my company had ~30 TB

Thanks for posting this. I kind of needed it. Recent projects are getting pretty tough, to the point of looking for a supplementary job, and the job search itself isn't any easier. I'm not in any kind of "bad spot" mentally, but it is reass

I see your point, but if you have 5 sales reps with the authority to green-light extreme features, you're not really a startup anymore. You're officially a full-steam ahead business, or you should be. It also comes down to the amount of mon

I'm really more surprised that Path has let presentations like this continue. I've seen 4 separate MVH presentations, with each one being in step with these complaints. and it always leaves a bad taste in my mouth regarding Matt and Path as
