Plus they are optimizing for a platform that may change without giving them enough time to adapt. At their scale, running their own servers is also important because you are not at the mercy of anyone (except at the mercy of hardware and OS

Maybe you could explain or provide a link to the definition? He might know what it is under a different term.

Interesting. Thanks for the info. Is no recent rails experience an issue? I have django experience (years worth) but anything recent with rails (nothing after rails 2).

Do you have any real world data regarding working conditions in "normal" airlines?

Could the problem be that airlines treat their IT staff like trash? I get why people like Google. They get treated well and have good benefits. I don't see an airline treating much of their workforce as good as Google treats theirs.

Thanks for linking to them. I found their code challenges and they are interesting (I do them as a hobby).

I feel that where we are disagreeing on different things. Your point of how Javascript is being implemented these days and how it impacts the performance of websites is true. My point is that the web, like TV when it came out, was very simp

Well, television started as a simple signal. Its now way different. And that's ok. Requirements change over time as people realize how useful something may be.

I have used phaser.js before and its fantastic. But I'm not sure how much life the project will have over the long term. Godot and Unity appear to have more long term stability. Its OK to have a non-native desktop app inside a wrapper

For those with experience on Godot: How feasible is to build a canvas-heavy/webgl application that is also exportable to the desktop? I'm looking at unity at this moment but godot could be a viable alternative.

I have not written real C++ in a while, but this code is very nicely organized and written. Can't comment if its modern idiomatic C++. Its easy to read and make sense of what's happening. IMO, that is not easy to do. Congrats @O

I have thought about that for years, but it was not an arc. It was above the powerlines. Whatever it was I can't reproduce it in order to figure out what it was. :)

I work on a abnormally large Django codebase. It has 30 dependencies on the requirements.txt file. I've worked on other Django codebases and they usually have about 15. Python has a big standard library which cuts down on dependencies.

I saw one of these a long time ago. While driving through an area where some lighting was happening a blue-ish ball appeared on top of the powerlines that were parallel to the road. The ball was big enough for me to notice it out of the cor
