The obsequious reply to that comment is actually even more annoying. Or, perhaps, I am not catching the sarcasm.

The law actually requires that H-1B salaries be above a certain level. Many companies (mostly, shady "consultants") routinely violate the law causing the impression that H-1Bs are cheap.

As the "Road to Reality" explains, if you study Quantum mechanics, complex numbers become every bit as "real" as the integers or real numbers. You just can't explain some of the quantum mechanical phenomena or concepts without using complex

The more important point is about advances in genetic engineering. That's been going on for maybe 30-40 years, at best. If the pace picks up a little, what the grandparent says (significantly larger life spans) may well be a reality.

The fact that Google said this is much faster than XML does not mean that the IDL might be slower than other IDLs. In fact, the way it is implemented, I see no reason why it should be slow. If you want to find a drawback, it's the fact that

Actually the cube is a usability trap. I had to disable it because it increased my workspace switching time a lot even when I had increased its rotation speed. It looks cool, but gets in the way unfortunately.

In a hypothetical universe, if kids weren't exposed to ANY thoughts about religion AT ALL and were taught about what we know about how the universe works, would the concept of God arise? Perhaps, since there are still a lot of things which

Keep weakening (or twisting) the definition until the answer to that question is "Yes"? Is there a rationale for doing this?

If the Mac can get the apt-get system working really well (not like fink or ports, but really working in a hassle-free way), then I think it will be unbeatable. Right now, I still prefer Linux. It's just a lot better for development work.

The downmodders should really explain why they are modding down a perfectly sensible comment here.

Apple just has a habit of making a big big deal of almost anything. A few of the things they are certainly justified in touting. But when they claim 10,000 times (within maybe 2 minutes) in the WWDC keynote that MobileMe has ground-breaking

this is incredibly slick. i love how easy it feels. one major problem i faced -- once an object is selected, i thought dragging would move it, but of course it doesn't. That created a bunch of unneeded shapes for me.

This company will never mend its ways. I hope (and I know it may just be a hope what with its billions of cash reserves) it dies a really painful death for trying to be against progress almost all the time. Control freaks.
