The addition of ' http:// is made by Chrome itself, not OSX.

Adium's text entry is rich text, it'll accept actual hyperlinks. Paste a URL from Chrome in and right click > 'Edit Link', it should show the correct URL, with the link text as the URL minus http:// .

Does anyone know where GeoLocation gets the data? My IP is registered to a city 35 miles away, yet it's able to pinpoint where I am within a few meters?

Inline Javascript should just be for initialising objects. And inline CSS only if a element's style is never going to be used anywhere else, like in blog posts.

Obviously the browser would know the true url, so it'd be able to just copy that. Also, it seems the functionality I mentioned is already in Chrome.

How about removing it, but modifying the functionality of the copy action, so it appends the clipboard with http:// if the user has selected/copied the entire URL? Personally, I have no qualms with http:// , I just think this suits the b

Okay, so it appears 1.9.1 now at least doesn't crash outright. Not sure if it's 100% stable, though.

AFAIK, 1.9.1 incompatibility was due to a fault in Ruby itself, rather than Rails. And even though it seems to work with 1.9.2-head, that does have some major issues, like SEGV/Bus errors in native classes and gems alike (see http://redmin

Engadget video review: http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/05/fusion-garage-joojoo-revi... You can see for yourself how buggy the UI is.

Given the transparent nature of Javascript, it’s entirely possible that developers could just rip the framework from Apple’s guide and start stabbing away — but they’d be doing it without documentation of any sort. And a n

So to sum it up: bad hardware design, rushed UI/UX design, no multitouch, practically useless Flash support, no apps platform, and the same price as an iPad? The issues could be bearable for the originally rumored $200, but at $500, when th

I agree, their prices are a bit steep. Especially when you consider you'll probably not even use all the storage; it only starts to become 'worth it' if you're was using the full 50/100GB. If they charged per GB @ say, $0.25/GB, I'd use it

Ruby. I don't think you could get any less verbose, it's simple to understand and to the point, great for a first language. :)

I much prefer the first, it's far friendlier. The second looks a bit unfinished and cheap if I'm honest - lens flare? Purple to gray gradient? Glossy icons? Eeek...

BBC Radio 1/2/4, set at a lowish volume. I used to listen to podcasts, but I never actually listened to them, I'd not even realise they'd ended, it was just background noise. I now save the podcasts for design sessions, where I don't tend t

A lot of that isn't Adobe's fault though, the only browser on OSX currently supporting Core Animation (the most efficient API for drawing to the canvas) is Safari 4. Core Animation drawing has been implemented in 10.1 and at the moment my (

Wasn't Mahalo's founding goal to improve search by creating quality pages written by humans, without the spam and low quality content you get with traditional search engines?

Building a barebones game framework for HTML5 Canvas. Or at least, decoupling the reusable pieces of code from a game I've been building.

http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer10.html I often run into Flash which just doesn't work correctly, though. And it uses 10-20% less CPU compared to 10.0, so the gap's been narrowed, but not nearly enough.

That video was hovering around 88% CPU usage whilst playing. It's hard to get excited about a technology you know'll ultimately just burn your battery at a dire rate in comparison to a native app.

If I had to guess, I'd say in the early days of development the iPad had a camera, but later on they realised it didn't fit in with the ideology of the device, scrapped it, but didn't bother creating a new mould for something a user would n

Same, had my 24" TN for 2 days before returning it for a HP IPS panel for 2.5x the price — so glad I did. Even at the optimal viewing angle, colours were fundamentally lighter at the bottom (and darker at the top), making text in the bottom

I'd much rather have two decent panels than those six cheap TNs. Especially considering the poor viewing angles you'd end up with that setup. The colour degradation is going to be absolutely awful.

At first I was let down with it being closed system. But after a night to sleep on it, I'm starting to warm to the idea. I'll never use the iPad for work, and in the same way I can't bring myself round to using a Mac Mini as my media centre

You have a point when it comes to the proportions of dots and such, but I'm not sure if it'd be a fix to a problem which doesn't exist. I don't think it'd effect phishing much either, since that kind of user wouldn't understand that dots ar
