Clustering file requests into batches over time based debounced windows also seems like a good option. I wrote this kind of batching reverse proxy before for HTTP requests.

There's a lot of assumptions in this comment: - That people are only employed at FANG - That outside of cryptocurrencies, people only work on enterprise software and widgets - That blockchain has the only difficult distributed systems

What was some of the interesting technical CS challenges you had to face in doing so? I have no interest in blockchain or adjacent tech because I don't see any technical challenges worth solving, so I'd be interested in learning i

It's not public. I don't really open source most of the tools I write for myself because there's basically no incentive to do so.

re:ydotool. More than risks, I would say the author constantly changing things without testing and breaking the tool is what made me stop using it. I wrote my own version using evdev and never looked back.

Even if something like frozen desserts used the same amount of energy as NFTs, it's still not a good light for NFTs considering those frozen desserts probably support a large number of jobs, infrastructure, and at the very least some k

I don't understand the point of this comment. It's almost schizophrenic in nature. Are you advocating for wasting energy by saying that wasting energy is fine because it's done in other places but not criticized?

Why would you bother training neural nets? They already found a solution that can be computed in literally 0 cpu time that works for >90% of the cases (their theoretical model was an above average active player moving 5 times in a second

People born of the highschool age have had access to computer at least 10 times more powerful than when I was the same age, and with a lot more material on the internet and a more mature field as a whole. It would be stupid to feel bad by c

Then consider it a spectrum with Really Care on one end and Just A Job on the other. I don't think it takes away from the original point.

Storing small blobs is a use case where SQLite often excels. By small, I mean in the range of <400kB. That is, if those are usually write-once, read-only. I can't remember the paper right now, but one of the results was that if you

I appreciate the thoroughness with which you are pursuing this. The amount of work you're doing outside of the technical aspect is definitely something I can admit that I would've never pursued. It's encouraging to see.

I had the exact same experience/realization. It's very easy to get focused on work and stop paying attention to the irritation one is putting their body in. I have two examples. Recently, I noticed that my neck posture was startin

"rather novel paradigm" is where you lost me. TempleOS's integration with HolyC is more featureful than anything you've proposed and it was completed a few decades ago. The idea was surely older than that, too. I'm
