I feel even Pycharm and Goland are superior to VS code. The gap is closing but it's still noticable.

You just have to add RSS feed URL or you can even search and subscribe to podcasts inside the app. And the new episodes will be fetched regularly to your phone. The media file won't be downloaded unless you enable that. Sorry the uncle

After the demise of Google Play Music, I wrote https://musicsync.ashishb.net When the rumors of Google Podcasts being killed started circulating, I added podcast support to my app. In many cases matching or doing better than the

Nice, I will add it to `gabo` ( http://github.com/ashishb/gabo ), a tool of mine that's for boilerplate GitHub Actions generation based on the code structure of the repository.

Yeah, you can list 100 such cases. Let me tell you the most common scenario. I have a fairly popular FOSS CLI tool written in Python. I cannot use the features from the latest version of Python or else I will alienate ~50% of the userbase.

Fully compiled languages have another huge advantage. If you write a tool in Python and targeted say Python 3.10 then people using Phython 3.9 might not be able to use it. So, you really can't use latest and greatest features of Python

For web services, I would recommend Google cloud run, Azure container instances, or AWS Fargate for running containers directly. In most cases the price per service would be much lower than 5$/month - https://ashishb.net

I did read the blog post. The underlying issue might be in JavaScript. But that's an implementation detail. Here's my question to you why is this problem non-existent in c++/Java/go/rust?

People using a real language like Rust write a 10-100X performant new tool like `rg/fd` that replaces an existing tool like `grep/find`. People using TypeScript write blog on why Typescript can't even type `Object.Keys`. Some

After the demise of Google Play Music a few years back, I built a replacement for myself. If I had offered an option to store music, someone would have to bear the cost. Either I would have to make a product that eventually monetizes (or sh

I have used both Go and Java extensively. I prefer Go. However, I have to admit that checked exceptions is the best thing about Java compared to Go.

Depends a lot on the application tech stack. A generic tool is usually the worst idea. Further, I would recommend writing tests along the axis of minimum change.

Docker builds are not slow if you do them properly 1. Add layers properly, so that, the most changing code appears towards bottom. 2. Use a builder pattern where you build in one image and then copy the output binary into the second image (
