The article was unclear in your open source plans. Will you be opening your hdl, and under what license?

Does anyone know of documentation on how the exploit functions? i.e. what the vulnerability in Ninjhax is?

So if the x86-64 ABI is suboptimal for getting a stracktrace, can anyone name an architecture's ABI that is better, and in what way?

I'm surprised to see no mention of Ruby on Truffle/Graal, which has the potential to give much higher performance than the standard Ruby interpreter. https://github.com/jruby/jruby/wiki/Truffle

There was a paper at EuroSys this year "Relational access to Unix kernel data structures" which seems to attempt to offer similar functionality. A comparison between the two would be interesting. HTML version of the paper here: h

Well, it's more likely to get in given that nobody is really pushing aufs any more. overlayfs is less ambitious and less featureful, which can of course be a big advantage when trying to get it in to the kernel.

It's a real shame that there's no comparison with aufs as a baseline. They discount it for not being in mainline, but of course neither is overlayfs. The overlayfs author has been trying for upstream inclusion for years, maybe he&

When the author mentioned musl libc I was rather expecting them to say they switched. It seems rather more patches are required for uclibc support than for musl, while musl has the advantage of an active community. uclibc on the other hand

Yet still, Amazon is the only one with spot pricing. Nothing else comes close in on-demand cost to the ~$0.14 for an hour on a c3.4xlarge (16 vCPU, 30GiB RAM, 2x160GB SSD).

If you're interested in the development of an open-source SoC using RISC-V then do keep an eye on http://lowrisc.org . We will have more public soon - I'm talking at the OpenRISC conference ( http://orconf.org

I wouldn't call ARM open. Sure, you might be able to negotiate a license to one of ARM's designs. You need an architectural license to do your own implementation though.

Hi, just a quick correction - the Berkeley RISC-V team are not one and the same with the lowRISC team. We collaborate with them, and we have Krste on our technical advisory board. We are of course also using Chisel though.

Thumb2 only became standard with ARMv6. There are a few ARMv6 cores which implemented Thumb2 (as opposed to Thumb1), but they aren't in many commonly used products. The ARM1176 for instance as used in the Raspberry Pi is Thumb1 only.

It seems a shame that Ubuntu's Juju has been passed over in this space. Their charm store is designed to make it easy to mix and match recipes, have the community endorse and improve them. See the 'features' tab on https:&#x
