While demand might be very high, the particular scenario you describe is not going to happen. Eben addresses the funding issue in this interview: http://www.raspberrypi.org/?p=281 The trustees will be putting up the money for the initial

The project only went 'public' a few months ago (I think http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/click_online/9504208.s... was the first coverage). The 2006 prototype is simply evidence of the massive amount of commitment to the project sho

RollerCoaster Tycoon (released in 1999) is well known for being written almost entirely in x86 assembly. http://www.chrissawyergames.com/faq3.htm

Neat, my implementation of the command-line TODO list manager is sh-todo (written in POSIX compliant shell for maximum portability): https://github.com/asb/sh-todo

I'm pretty sure Github don't allow any private repos on free accounts (at least I can't create any).

Indeed, irssi or other console IRC clients are very effective time wasters.

Awesome. I'm a happy user of lua-apr and would recommend it to anyone.

Non-blocking sockets and poll are supported in the underlying APR library. There just doesn't seem to be support for the apr_poll stuff in lua-apr yet: http://apr.apache.org/docs/apr/1.4/group__apr__poll.html

Grim Fandango is now completable with residual: http://residual.sourceforge.net/ (the intention is residual is to 3D adventure games as ScummVM is to 2D adventures).

There used to be a graph of sales over time available at http://m00d.net/minecraft/sales/ - but it's down now (and has been for at least a few weeks). Does anybody know an alternative site which collects and displays this data? It's just

Could one of the mods please change the title from "ACM is 95% original content" to "CACM is 95% original content" or alternatively "Communications of the ACM is 95% original content".

I'm disappointed not to see Business Link ( http://www.businesslink.gov.uk ) linked under the "best resources" section. As far as I can see it's a better, more thorough source of advice - certainly for issues such as taxes, company registra

It's easy to get adwords credit - Google regularly send out coupons and last time I looked HSBC were offering £75 adwords credit for opening a business account.

Another neat project is Gollum as released by Github which gives you a nice simple layout to a git-back wiki ( https://github.com/github/gollum ). Development seems a little slow though, with seemingly important pull requests like this one

If anything I'd think the existence of Daz as an existing brand devalues it. Daz is a nice, pronouncable three letter domain but if someone were to buy it with the aim of developing it they may be put off by the prospect of P&G lawyers

Even if true, I don't think that comment is fair to the EBS team. It seems a likely reason for that behaviour is they don't have enough resource to work on and test (presumably) large changes to fix the underlying issue while also fixing th

I'm not sure I understand your meaning. Using just click to play in about:flags, on a page with blocked plugins you can click the icon which appears next to the bookmark star and select "Run all plug-ins this time". Is that not sufficient?

I like the ability to have local variables though, which isn't in the POSIX standard. However, the Debian Policy Manual does state that any /bin/sh shell should be posix-compliant and support local variables (along with a couple of other mi

I didn't meant to come across as critical. That's a very reasonable conclusion to come to, and it's the reason why it's such a shame that vim upstream don't want to highlight #!/bin/sh scripts as POSIX syntax by default.

Don't rely on vim syntax highlighting. By default it highlights shell scripts according to original Bourne shell syntax rather than POSIX. See the note on this page http://www.pixelbeat.org/programming/shell_script_mistakes.h... and this

But Cloudfront now supports custom origins which I believe allows gzip by forwarding the Accept-Encoding header and caching different versions of the file depending on the value of that header.

I imagine this is prompted by Amazon's free usage tier. I hope it's successful for Linode, though with the AppSumo credit and now this I can't help but feel a little envious of the new users.
