Ya there is an asymmetry for sure. If you already know about projects deep down the rabbit hole, you can go to their website/github/chain explorer/chat and do your own research. But if you don’t know anything except that bitc

The missing concept is trust. Blockchains are ideally trustless. Media brands are trustful. In a high-trust environment, a mention is an implied endorsement. If the Atlantic wanted to mention a blockchain project without encouraging their r

The Atlantic is an institution with a storied history and strong reputation. The blockchain is a wild west known for (at best) overpromising and underdelivering and (at worst) pump-and-dumps, fraud, and black-hat hacking. If they mention a

Your tech bubble mentality is leaking. Passionate feelings aren’t solutions. To date, Ethereum and IPFS have yet to provide value to regular people. The blockchain/DLT space is focused on financial infrastructure, and until scaling is

I loved Max Wang’s point that Facebook has chosen to focus on political engagement over social engagement. Like many people who used FB early, I remember when it was more about friends than allies (and opponents). Facebook profits massively

I may not be the target demo (I’m a solo founder) but I would never give another company my schedule to analyze and optimize. My time is my most valuable asset as a human and an entrepreneur, and I believe that for anyone intent on success,

The Oculus Quest still has serious flaws in screen resolution, input latency, and controller ergonomics. It’s literally painful for me to use it. I get eye strain, a headache, and sore thumbs. VR is clearly useful but before it becomes main

I'm sorry, this book really doesn't speak to the reasons why I smoked (cognitive stimulation, social connection, a reason to take a break). I'm glad it's help other people but it feels out-of-touch in exactly the way tha

Smoking is clearly not healthy. But I wish the benefits of nicotine were more widely known and discussed. I smoked from age 16 to 23 and now I'm 27. I've had cravings for the stimulation that I miss for the last 4 years. I expect

The idea that a government could benefit sounds weird to me. I think of benefiting as requiring a subjective personal experience. When you fix your car, does your car benefit? When you remodel your house, does your house benefit? In my mind

Interesting work. How is MSL related to the concept of version control/revision control? I didn't see any reference to (centralized or decentralized) VCS, but that seems highly relevant to MSL.

Suspensions are not a punishment for most of the kids who get suspended (troublemakers). Troublemakers, mostly boys, are kids who will not silently sit still. It's easy to blame the parents of these children for their lack of disciplin
