What are you on about? I don’t get it. The intuitiveness of an interface is an empirical question. Whether it works or not is not some subjective fact. The Venn Diagramm for “intuitive” definitely includes “familiar”, it’s just a more gener

That’s not really how humans work and not really how brains work. Nothing is technically intuitive and in that regard I do agree with you but I think you are missing the forest for the trees. Everything humans ever do happens within a certa

But familiar = intuitive. You are just splitting hairs. Obviously what’s intuitive is intuitive largely because it’s familiar (mixed in with a bit of psychology and perception) but that’s not really an issue at all. Rigid adherence to guide

Amazon has changed massively over the years. Check out the Wayback Machine. (Sadly looking at the checkout itself that way isn’t really an option.) Only one example of thinking outside the box that’s relatively new on Amazon is putting your

I’m not sure what you are trying to say here and how it relates to the article. It’s a pithy quote but it’s also sort of pointless since all of culture is like that. To a certain extent intuitive = familiar and that’s not even weird or surp

But that’s not correct. Amazon changes the nuts and bolts parts of it’s UI a lot and they do not tend to make egregious UI mistakes. They use dark patterns, sure, but don’t confuse useable UI with beautiful UI.

Setting an example is great and doing what you personally can to reduce your footprint is certainly not wrong but it’s completely and utterly wrong to focus on that and talk about it. That’s just the wrong approach. Deniers and their ilk wi

Part of activism is picking the right battles you can win and where you can be effective. The main focus of animal rights protesters consequently are industrial meat production and animal cruelty, not the fucking Hell’s Angels. That’s absur

I’m not really sure what you statistical point there is. If Vendor A has a 2 percent failure rate and Vendor B has a 3 percent failure rate it’s still valid to conclude that you would be less likely to have a failure with Vendor A even if y

That is why context is important. The dream of the perfect context free golden rule does not exist. We have to pay attention and make hard decisions. None of this is simple.

Isn’t this simply a case of tourists and cities overburdened by tourists clashing? As more people become more mobile this will only deteriorate. It could also be these cities developing a museum mentality for their historic city centers. In

We do have mechanisms that deter us from committing suicide like fear and pain. The good thing about fear and pain is that they are universally useful, e.g. both when we are on the verge of being reckless and suicidal.

People feel as thought it’s a moral judgement when someone just exists and is a vegan. They feel as though they are being judged, a finger is pointed at them. That is, of course, bonkers.

In theory I completely agree that insects traps could lead to evolution through natural selection. There is no disagreement here about it being possible. All I’m saying is that insect traps are too rare to have any influence.

That doesn’t really pass scrutiny. It’s not like they are mass collecting insects and it’s not like someone else is using insect traps to mass trap insects. As such there is practically no evolutionary pressure to adapt to not being caught
