Seems like apple is still playing catch up. All the rumored features are already on android. But of course I am sure apple's implementations will be considered gamechangers and revolutionary according to the fanboys. What's next? A customi

Actually it's odd. They say that in the Java tuning, they made some simple optimization that got it on par to the original C++ one but then they refused to do anything further; noting instead the same C++ optimization would have applied in

Why is this even a surprise? Why is everyone saying it's an open vs close issue? The TOS clearly states that apps that utilize high bandwidth is a violation. Google hasn't enforced this strongly but it is against their TOS. It's the same

His column is barely readable nowadays. He picks all the stories and "small" snippets that try to position android and google as a failure. No explanation. No argument. Nothing at all. And since there are no comments, he totally paints a

Honeycomb was rushed so most likely there are probably a lot of ugly code in there. In the next release (Ice cream), it will support tablets and phones in one codeline. Most likely v3.5 or 4.0 so I don't think it's backport, it's really m

It's similar to making things up when you are linking to small sections of an article and trying to paint a narrow view of an argument. His commentaries are also incredibly horrible.

Even if the device manufacturers do not alter the OS, it's still impossible for Google to send one mass update that will apply to all the phones. Phone OSes are too embedded for this to work. Carriers and manufacturers will still need to

How are they adding to Windows? They make applications. They don't necessarily alter the OS. Plus PCs have a 7 layer stack where there are abstraction layers over the devices and drivers, making this doable. Whereas phones are embedded s

Microsoft had to do this since they are that far behind in the game. They probably blew billions to do this and not to mention, this is not a sustainable strategy. Google, on the other hand, should probably improve their NDK, which a nu
