Okay, if that were the case, why would Facebook even have an option to make your friends list private? There's nothing pointless about taking issue with "features" and options that don't do what they're purporting t

Fascinatingly, I read your comment first, then tried to read the upside down post — the only word I had trouble with was arsing. Sight reading is really fascinating.

I submitted the same wikipedia page a few months ago and it only got around half the up votes. I guess titles and timing are everything :) https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=6389167

That's really really not possible if you understand the basics of how this works. This is NOT a browser API, this is an API for Apple's own cloud push notification infrastructure. This technology can ONLY work with a giant third-p

It's funny, but for my entire life I misread "Comic sans" as "Cosmic sans" (seriously — sight reading is a crazy thing), so this was doubly confusing for me.

This is pretty much how I feel most of the time. It often seems like simple things are hard and hard things are simple, and even after years and lots of different projects, I still end up playing "guess-and-check" with complicated

Hey, Cool initiative — I've signed up! As for how I got involved so early, the answer is curiosity, Google, open source, and fake-it-till-you-make-it. Just go out and build the things you want to build — not the thing you think you

My thoughts exactly. Frankly I assumed the very reason this was on the front page was because they weren't just doing a fullscreen app. This is a gimmick, as far as I'm concerned.

Yup, came here to post this link. I literally was just playing the trial version hosted on this website YESTERDAY. It plays perfectly under WINE in Mac OS 10.9 on my MacBook Air. Such a fantastic game.

This looks really, really cool. The challenge for this month, revamping a high school's website, has been something I've poured many many loving hours into over my sophomore and junior years (I am now a senior) in HS. I wrote it f

Maybe I'm delusional, but even as someone who has worked pretty extensively (4 months of full stack Django development) with Django, posts like these things make me want to stay away from Django. I read this post, and I see bandaids. I

Hah! Oh god, yep, that was a typo. Part of me wishes I had a cool backstory to tell though... (not that I think MongoLab is in the least deserves to be the object of such action, of course!)
