Running in the background is a bit a misrepresentation. Most aren't really running, and apps will close on their own if resources are needed. I'd say most techies also don't close out their apps. I certainly don't.

For those who are jealous... it looks like this just gives you a one day Admiral Pass that you must use before July 31st. It's not like you get continued access to their lounges. screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/4iflZt0.jpg And it enters y

Yep, here, Redis is an unnecessary component, since he is caching the entire HTML page it seems, in Redis. Seems he can accomplish the same with Nginx itself (which he's already using -- though not certain of the details if u are serving PH

My understanding that the limiting factor in WWDC size has been the number of Apple engineers, not physical venue constraints.

We got pulled for the 2.25 rule back in December[1], but finally made enough changes and got back in the App Store. 1. http://appshopper.com/blog/2012/12/20/appshopper-app-removed...

I've received similar emails. I've also been tempted to charge a fee for removal. I just ignore the emails.

ya I agree. I don't like that behavior at all (I hate false positives more than I hate spam). I just remember there being debate/discussion about this before. http://blogs.msdn.com/b/tzink/archive/2011/08/09/why-silentl... http://en.wiki

Apple's Genius Bar has a good reputation for customer support and repair/replacement. Even out of warranty, they can be very helpful as well.

as an interesting related note, both Sergey Brin and Larry Page went to Montessori pre-school and have attributed that to be a factor in their outcome. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0C_DQxpX-Kw&feature=youtu... edit: looks like Jeff

Our time is finite after all, and reading or answering email from people we don't know is not necessarily a good use of it If this were true, the solution would be dead simple - stop reading email. The problem is that not all email is cre

Email doesn't scale well is the problem. The people complaining are those people who get a lot of email. I fall in the cateory and constantly struggle with it. Ultimately I think the real solution is a personal assistant.

So how would you prioritize avoiding false positives without backscatter? I get a lot of spam, so manually reading a spam folder is not a feasible solution.

Well, possibly, though spam is a pretty high volume game, and my guess is it's not worth the time for the mass spammers to analyze a few rejects (even if those rejects even do go to their actual address) It depends on what you prioritize. I

This system by itself can be frustrating... as the problem is that they tend to challenge-response everyone. I would love to see a system that does automatic spam classification (like gmail), but if you get auto-classified as spam, then you

Depression is very much a bug in the system. But for various reasons people don't see it that way. If someone has a heart attack, we don't say "why didn't the body just increase blood flow to the heart." Yet if someone commits suicide, peo

I don't necessarily disagree with the article, just opening with "I’ve had a hand in quite a few successful and not-so-successful iOS apps" invites the question.

fwiw, his list of "major sites" that got fooled is rather misleading and sketchy in its own way: "yahoo" - syndicated content "cnet" - (UK) cnet.co.uk's crave blog "gizmodo" - (UK) gizmodo.co.uk not saying that you couldn't fool major sites

Still hoping/waiting for some sort of two-factor authentication at Namecheap. They don't offer it yet. They suggested they were looking into it in 2011, but nothing yet. GoDaddy offers it. :)

Not sure if selfish quite captures it. It's more practical consideration. I'll give you X, if everyone else is also giving you X. Otherwise, my X won't make any difference.

It's not as selfish as you try to spin it. There are any number of political and economic policies that you might favor, but that only make sense in aggregate. I might favor more NASA funding, but I'm not going to write a check and donate

Not really. It was a pratically throwaway phrase that people can't seem to get past to read the point of my message. If i say that you spend time and money on your startup, and you want people to see it, it does not mean that the reason I w
