Seems oddly low. I know the US is notorious for low speeds, but 3.35 Mbps for Google fiber? Does their measurement actually measure what I intuitively think measures? I've used two different ISPs in recent years and both sustained 10+ Mbps

When I've been involved with a public university there are lots of disclaimers and notices that stuff done via University email is not private and isn't subject to requirements for a warrant should the institution want to review it, etc. Ho

I agree with. The only problems I've ever had with it have turned out to either be problems with the actual hardware or problems with the clients, not problems with Pulse Itself. I will admit having a lot of a hate for figuring out which au

Personally, I think the 'no sales' thing could have worked if their prices were lower. The couple of times I've been in a JCPenney since this started everything was depressingly expensive for what it was. It's one thing to not discount, but

So I'll agree with many of the commentators that several of the practices suggested aren't 'ideal.' However, they are easy and possibly better than having no 'practice' at all. Just as an example, the shared user account with unique SSH key

I only play one or two games from most of the bundles, though every bundle I've gotten has had one or two that made it worth it. And like most other Linux users I've usually paid around $10. But I haven't bought any bundle that didn't have

I think it's more likely that Linux will end up having a small performance benefit over Windows all other things being equal.

Do the videos work? Did you follow the 'special' instructions to install the 'special' version of Flash that will work with Steam? Because I sure didn't, and so no videos in the Steam client play. Though that's probably even worse than bein

I can't use vim effectively because I constantly try to navigate using WASD. I know I can bind it, but the thought of rebinding every command and then being dependent on towing the configuration to every computer I'd ever use scares me. So

I mostly remember college careers fairs as a place where big companies tried to get you to apply for their internships. Microsoft and Google and such usually had their own separate events, and I'll grant they were more serious about hiring

I really think that this game could use some people from the demoscene to create emergent algorithmic graphics for it. It seems like it'd be a good match.

Maybe you should focus on finding smart people (if you actually pay decently and are located somewhere somebody in their right mind would want to live) and then consider training them in your 'high-specialized' whatever you need.

Probably you paid off a good agency in India to fix you up with jobs, then. You're right that it's a little more complicated. A family friend is here from India on some kind of visa where she is able to switch employers, but she has to leav

There may be some body shops with incompetent people, but I think there are plenty of competent H1-B holders. The proper framing is that their visa can be held over their head to extract 14 hour days 6 or 7 days a week and other working con

I think the way H1-B visa holders are basically beholden chattel to a specific enterprise is especially repugnant. Anyone who reads through job listings for engineers (all types, as in real engineers) and programmers will also conclude that
