As an introvert working alone and remote for 13 years, full-time pairing sounds like a nightmare.

I once learned Vue on the go as I reimplemented the company's admin dashboard from static rails-generated templates to a SPA. In a week. As a paid project assignment. It was wild, but super fun. They took too long to make an offer, tho

I don't remember where I got this, but this has been my working philosophy for the past couple years: > Make it work, then make it better.

Unlike other things that have been democratized by modern technology (photography, video, coding, publishing) success in music is still heavily dominated by pretty much the same big gateway keepers as it was in the 80s. Yes, you could absol

I am a UI spelunker. I right-click, option-click, dobule-clicke, force-press every little interface element and I am so happy when the software delights me with a surprising feature. I type the konami code as soon as I discover a web app su

I don't think the point is "vectors adhering to a grid", quite the contrary it looks to me that the author is exposing the raw materials of a font which are, essentially, bezier curves expressed as ones and zeroes. I think th

This is super cool! FlightPHP looks nice, too, what didn't you use that for the backend?

Your story reminded me of this comic http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/2013/10/menace.html which I like to read every once in a while. Edit: And of course you already had two suggestions for this. I should ref

Yes! But I think you had to have lived through the process of developing javascript programs without any developer tools to really appreciate Firebug and how indebted we all are to Joe Hewitt. And also, we should mention Chris Pederick'

I think Coffeescript is more related to the modern JS flow (with all the transpiling) that Rome is trying to consolidate. But I don't think it's the OG, if memory serves Objective-J was first.

I think Backbone is a really big omission, specially because it credits Angular for the popularity of the SPA and in doing so practically erases Jeremy Ashkenas and his awesome contributions from Javascript history. I would argue you can tr

I used P2 back in ~2012 when Onswipe and Automattic were working together on a joint plugin for WordPress.com. It was a long time ago, but I remember it being… weird? Maybe it was the culture clash, but at the time it felt disorienting.

I was a big iPad user, I bought 1, 2, and 3 and used it a lot to read, mostly comics via Comixology. Then, Amazon bought Comixology and refused to pay the 30% Apple tax and it became very hard to buy digital comics. So I stopped using my iP

This is a legitimate question apropos of OP‘s web ring: Who qualifies as a nerd of the 90s? Is it nerds born in the 90s or people who were nerds during the 90s?

We don't have Venmo or anything similar in Mexico. I don't know if it's because of regulations or what, but nobody has developed anything similar. And Whatsapp is huge here.

Well, you know how MobX itself is very unopinionated? MST is very structured and opinionated. It's also immutable which means you get snapshots of every mutation to the tree which is very useful in almost all cases.

MobX State Tree advocate here. We have a VERY complex state that needs to be synced with the server and persisted locally and nothing fulfilled our needs like MST. Also, sign me up to the Sagas-are-bullshit club.
