There used to be a sponsoring segment in the beginning, but, if I recall correctly, they ended the contract after the stunt became known and it was cut.

Very true. And even in specialist communities there is a certain degree of moderation needed in order to keep it in order. In the offline worlds individuals for which (reasonable) moderation is needed are kept in check by society (either th

I get that, but the line between moderation and censorship is very culture and topic dependent. That's obviously true for authoritarian countries like China but even in "the West" there are competing definitions of what const

That's right, but other countries do and I've seen plenty of local companies spending advertising dollars on Twitter and targeting local users. Of course Twitter is free to leave those markets at any time but I don't think ot

Then you need to deal with the outcome. If Twitter started doing no (or very little) moderation it would suddenly be in conflict with many laws around the globe including the EU and the US. That did fly a few years ago but I doubt it does t

I think the author of the license itself can restrict how it can be used: I'm thinking of the legal wording for: "This license can only be used in projects which do not impose any other restriction besides the terms of this licens

Contracts cannot override the law (I can't sell myself into slavery even if I sign a contract saying so). Courts are there to decide how the law applies to a given situation when the parties do not agree. A judge makes a decision and t

It feels like there is a nieche opening up. With SEO copy content being useless to anyone but the provider and Google and the tech giants coming slowly but surely under scrutiny from lawmakers, it seems like there might be an opening to dev

I'm pretty sure it's the other way around. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Directive_%28European_Union%29... Regulations can built upon the foundations laid down by directives and they apply directly.
