Mathematics is the exploration of the a priori. Historically some axioms have been deemed more real than others. I think Gauss rejected non-eulidean geometry for instance. But this point of view has changed. With abstract algebra, and I bel

Used to watch Moomin on Swedish TV, never really read the comics. Anime was rare back then and I certainly never realized it was Japanese. The congeniality is quite amazing. Never liked Pippi much, but I devoured other books by Lindgren, Em

As a kid I used to sneak UHT (long-lasting) milk in the shopping cart because the sweeter taste went well with cereals. It always seemed like a magic trick by Nature, along with roasted bread (the Maillard reaction) or simply leaving a pear

I wonder what cryptography can contribute with here. Could sensor manufacturers integrate a private key in the video stream which would authenticate an unbroken chain of frames?

Some while ago I reread Richard Dawkins's The Extended Phenotype, which he has referred to as his favorite work. You could say it's the logical follow up on The Selfish Gene, quite technical and expert-oriented, but Dawkins is suc

It would indeed be interesting to see a comparison with for instance non-local means on the scaled raw image. The speed is superior in any case, I suspect.

Francis Galton writes about this and related phenomena such as synaesthesia in Inquiries into Human Faculty and its Development. A remarkably personal account by a pioneering scientific mind. Highly recommended.

The convenience of the MOC is its raison d'être. The minor pain point for me is practically being forced to use the Qt Creator IDE. I'm happy to see a possible best of both worlds solution like this.
