If $150k makes you somehow feel like you won and can ease off the gas, I don't think you were made to win anyway. For the few (maybe 1/4, more?) of the YC teams that this does make fat and happy, it's just cost of doing business for Milner

@spolsky An example of a company that was hurt by the CEO being a dick? Um, I don't know, how about every single one? This is why most CEOs don't do customer service. Especially one that has eleventy billion users and a ton of money. People

Aweber is really easy to use, has good deliverability and back end metrics. Prices are ok. I've used them on a number of projects. http://www.aweber.com

Another disingenuous headline from Fast Company. This doesn't show you "how" at all. Just shows you the ingredient info, not the recipe.

It's fast, but a few things I have an issue with: - only shows .com - doesn't show splits or domain hacks (eg del.icio.us) - not clear when I see only orange results if those are unavailable

You were pretty forward and quick in your intro emails. Not being a TC author but understanding that they get a ton of emails, I think you hit the nail on the head with how to get their attention.

I'm lying in bed at an airbnb place reading this thread. It's my first time using the service and it's been incredible. Good followup emails, owner's place was exactly as it was described and it's so much better (and cheaper) than a hotel.

Agree that peers being something is powerful -- not so much for peer pressure (although that's important for some), but more for the sense that if 10 of your friends bought something, it must not be a total disaster. Peer protection. That i

These are very bad. They are exactly the kind of infographic that seemed to take off in 2010 -- mostly as an SEO scam. A lot of link farming in 2010 was done by sites that offered up a custom infographic to blogs, with a link at the bottom

I'll let someone else detail why having a comprehensive business plan isn't necessary, but a good primer for you is the Pitching Hacks book (PDF) by Venture Hacks. It's $9 but worth more than the sproutbean catfart health wrap you'll otherw

A different way to phrase this might be: to some bleeding edge tech people, their iPhone will become old every week. Looking only at Android, if it continues to grow like it did in 2010, it is not unreasonable to think about 50 or so major

These are all pretty great, but I admit I'd likely blank on most of them. One of my favorite questions to ask when I interview people is "what would you do with $10 million cash right now?" It's a question that exposes a few key things abou
