I’m sorry but Krita is actually usable. I have managed to use Krita successful with many projects while with gimp every project ends in frustration and failure.

If you want to replace Photoshop with something open source, I recommend Krita, everytime I give gimp a try it ends up being a frustrating waste of time.

S3 Virge could do 3d and 2d on the same card and is older than the GeForce https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S3_ViRGE

That is just pedantic and a bit disingenuous. 2D/3D accelerators existed before 1999. I actually had one of these cards; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S3_ViRGE It sucked but it was technically one of the first &q

Really? Nvidia’s marketing and PR teams are trying to trick people into thinking that they invented GPUs? Does Nvidia have no shame and or scruples? The term "GPU" was coined by Sony in reference to the 32-bit Sony GPU (designed b

It was pretty humid too, a fan was ok. Americans are just very weak and are babies when it comes to temperature.

AC is never crucial, you just want to be comfortable at the expense or th plane. How did people live there for centries before AC? Magic?

If people really cared about the environment then they would ban residential air conditioning, it’s a luxury. I lived somewhere that would get to 40c in the summers and an oscillating fan was good enough to keep cool, the AC was nice to hav

Well since Nadella I have been using less Microsoft products and probably won’t be using Windows anymore once my Windows 10 LTSC stops working. I keep hearing praise for Nadella but all he is doing is alienating a lot of customers with his

Useful does not mean mass appeal. The software I got paid the most to write is used by a handful of people on a manufacturing site and 99.9999999999% of the public will never see it. It solved a problem they had and I’m proud of it but yea

I feel the same way, I was building something in a game 10 years ago and I thought to myself, “I’m putting all this effort into this game and at the end I won’t really have anything to show for it and this feels like the same energy I use w

Curious question, what ever happened with the OpenAI drama with trademarking “GPT”. I’m guessing they were not successful?

For me at least the biggest feature of some self hosted LLMs is that you can get it then to be “uncensored”, you can get them to tell you dirty jokes or have the bias removed with controversial and politically incorrect subjects. Basically

You could also use openVPN or wireguard and not have a man in the middle for no reason. I have a VPN on a raspberry pi and with that I can connect to my self hosted cloud, dev/staging servers for projects, gitlab and etc when I’m not o

This is very cool and I am dying to use Flux with ComfyUI but I have an AMD card. It can run SDXL without any issues but I want to know if anyone has had success running Flux on AMD and if so how did you do it?

You’re acting as if computing power isn’t going to get better. With time training the models will get faster. Let me use CG rendering as an example. Back in the day only the big companies could afford to do photoreal 3D rendering because on

I can already pay $0 a month and use uncensored local models for both text and images. Llama, Mixtral, Stable diffusion and Flux are a lot of fun and free to run locally, you should try them out.

Its a Large LANGUAGE Model and not a Large MATHEMATICS Model. People need to learn to use the right tools for the right jobs. Also LLMs can be made more deterministic by controlling it’s “temperature”.

They can be unleashed if you run the models locally. With stable diffusion / flux and the various checkpoints/loras you can generate horrors beyond your imagination or whatever you want without restrictions. The same with LLMs and

Funny most of the world lives just fine without A/C. It really is an American thing.

I feel like cooling large spaces takes a lot more energy than lightbulbs unless they have 100 watt lightbulbs on in every room all night long. Modern bulbs are super energy efficient so that problem is kind of solved.

I lived in the tropics where it was hotter than the USA and we survived just fine without A/C. A/C is luxury and your luxury is destroying the planet. I don’t want you to stop using A/C but I would like people to accept that
