I'd love to see some test images with that (just get a side-by-side with the app and a larger aperture camera). As I understand what you're proposing, I'm not sure it would actually be closer to what a large-aperture camera w

Synthetic aperture-like algorithms are also common at SIGGRAPH if you go through the past two decades. A quick search didn't unearth any, but there is open source software to do parallax depth inferencing, and you could just apply prop

Could you speak to how familiar photojournalists are with the math and transformations that take place inside a digital camera? For example, almost certainly your cameras have dead pixels, which are processed away during the demosaicing sta

There have been multiple implementations of this class of algorithm (collectively "synthetic aperture") using different techniques. Edit: below mentions the HTC "double camera" phones, and in fact it's also possible

"This test is not a primary mission objective and has a low probability of success (30-40%), but we hope to gather as much data as possible to support future testing." This test isn't expected to be successful, either.

When I was finishing university and looking for a job, I actually started deleting minor git repos that never really blossomed into bigger projects, because I was afraid of interviewers/potential employers going over those instead of t

Even cars that run on open source software (Tesla Model S runs Linux) don't release source for their GPL'd code. So I wouldn't expect a project like this any time soon.

Why are Boosted Boards ($1995) at a 6 mile range and E-Go ($700) at a 15 (Edit: 18!) mile range? With the huge price difference I would expect just the opposite. Edit: http://e-go.com/feature-1 apparently E-Go has a 18.6 mi

What kind of applications are you using it for? In my experience I've only seen research image processing using it (and even that totally dwarfed by OpenCL / other alternatives)

Anyone know the battery life/lifetime of these? If it's months, that's a lot more convenient to keep in the pantry. As a kitchen appliance it makes a lot of sense, but I don't have any muscle memory for "charging&

Quick feedback: When I get to a "next" page, the focus must be on something other than the core content, because spacebar doesn't scroll the page. Clicking anywhere in the main content box makes spacebar traversal work :) Lo

I think Eich as the CTO directly refutes that statement. It's not even clear whether he's just going back to being CTO, or leaving entirely.

I'm curious what you do with them. Sage Devices doesn't seem to have a lot of info available but Bolt says y'all are doing "Home Energy Management". What in home energy management requires ~3.4msps?

NB: this only happens in english. In any other localization there aren't these options. I <3 that facebook has done this, but realize that it's only for a fraction of its user base, not the entire site.

Just to separate the problems: Building a cross-compiling toolchain is hard. Totally understand that. Android [0] and Linaro [1] both provide pre-made pre-tested builds you can just pull and use. I recommend using them. Building the kern

LTS releases should probably stick to a kernel that will have long-term stable support. One example is GKH's (Greg Kroah-Hartman's) stability kernels: http://www.linuxfoundation.org/news-media/blogs/brow

Every six months or so another way to run go code on android devices is published. Sometimes it's SDK wrappers, other times (like this) it's native executables. The author's approach is interesting, but lacks MIPS support (t

Android runs on more than just arm -- anything supported by the platform needs to support MIPS and x86 as well.

Given that Fluke multimeters cost about 10x what the destroyed ones are, sparkfun is still out $30k to replace the shipment + destruction fees, and now have probably 200 fluke units to try to recoup some costs with.

It really wasn't discussed in the article, but it has a bunch of benefits we've seen with software like ArcGIS. When you have paid engineers using tools like OSM, they'll develop more tools for using it, build extensions.
