Sure, but I may not want others (e.g. other analytics) to know that I am watching Netflix. Let it be in its own container.

Entirely possible. Yet, this is what Apple presented in 2014: Jessica Mallet from Apple, Inc. gave a presentation on how Apple uses SolrCloud. She briefly outlined some terms and concepts and then dug into how Apple built a multi-tenant sea

They only mention Tika and Kafka, both I believe are written/using Java. I think the next article is supposed to give more details, I am looking forward to that.

Tika is a very active project that Solr also uses. And they rely on other good libraries. If libextractor is sufficient for you, that's great. If you hit its limitation, try Tika. Some use-cases I know of include - Parsing Microsoft Of

It's OK to not like Solr. At the same time, half of the features I listed above, are quite new (SolrCloud, docValues, LTR, Config and Schema API, JSON support, etc). And the other half - the 'old' part you may not like - are

In 2015, they evaluated Apache Solr and Elasticsearch and decided to build their own (Firefly). They said, other solutions did not scale. So, instead of contributing to scaling (like Apple and Bloomberg and Cloudera did), they went the othe

(Disclaimer: I am an Apache Solr committer and popularizer) Search is interesting! And it is important to differentiate the web search (Google) and domain-specific search (Solr, Elasticsearch, recent release of http://vespa.ai&#x

Apache uses them: https://issues.apache.org/jira/secure/BrowseProjects.jspa?se... I am not sure who the 'management' would be in their case.

For the longest time I wanted something that generates an offline copy of top-X articles with their best comments. For the no-data/wifi train, plane, etc. Article would be a bonus, but I often check the discussion first :-) The only of

I would love a distance map that includes public transport travel time. For example, if I live close to metro/subway/train and I want to do really big grocery shopping. It would be interesting to see the nearest grocery that inclu

Kind of annoying that there is nothing to try before signing up. Not even a single song in any of the languages. Or any real screenshots. On the other hand you can get quite far without an account on https://lyricstraining.com&#x

Not by me, but the SQL interface is the bleeding edge of Solr. If the last time you looked was a month ago, look again. The feature set probably doubled since. And, for this, don't rely on documentation, it is not complete yet. Rather,

Yes and no. If I am writing a tutorial using REST calls, wrapping them in Python syntax is less than effective as a presentation. It also requires Jupiter backend running, which could be a burden to host for a popular multi-user tutorial. I

I'd love to talk geek and marketing about this project of yours. I have ideas for a _very_ similar (but not competing) one, but was not ready to jump on it until I see some validation. Your link just did that. If you are interested, I

This looks like a fun self-educational attempt, but not something to compete with Lucene-based search-engines. Which the OP actually hints at (project to distract myself, not as powerful as Lucene). What would be cool is to read about the l
