I read the 'Start now' button as 'sign up' on a first glance too and was then confused by the 'no signup' text below it. Maybe choose a word that doesn't begin with 'S' and doesn't have a shape like 'Sign Up' ... I like the 'jump in' idea,

The kicker here is usually the tax liability depending on your jurisdiction. Would you be looking at a large tax bill in addition to the cost of the options? If you have to pay taxes based on the current valuation of the company even if yo

I think it is neat in theory, but in practice I find sublime's multi-cursor thing more of a pain. Across a whole document I just don't trust it to do what I am expecting when I can't see all the changes on the screen at once. Search and re

Actually the compiler is part of the framework runtime. This XP netbook I'm typing it on has it installed and is able to compile a C# executable out of the box. Still, it is a fairly academic argument since notepad + command line is a pret

I like the simplicity of the interface, but second an option to have km's. I always prefer running in km's the numbers are better! What would be really cool is the ability to set a start point and ask for a circular route of N kms (miles)

This looks great! Any comments on how feasible Windows VMs will be to offer from a licensing perspective? Best of luck with this.

I'd expect performance to be a much more immediate driver for bandwidth conservation than cost. Consumers would have a hard time connecting a single app with their monthly bill, but know how responsive the app feels when the use it.

As a fellow Canadian I agree with the sentiment and would love to see lower prices. But to be fair(er) to the telco's, it is a little easier to provide decent cellular coverage across Singapore than it is across even the densely populated s

I like having the variables the same length from an aesthetic point, but my brain also flags 'rite' as being spelled wrong and that detracts (albeit slightly) from reading and understanding the code.

Can anyone suggest problem domains where it is useful to have the ability to do 100K writes per second, but not have durable transactions? I can see the in memory story for read only queries, or transient data.

Isn't the D in ACID for 'durable'? The blog post implies that this is an in memory store only ... I feel I must be missing something.

Agreed -- look at their own example data: wine,5,1,1 no-wine,0,0,10 This data is meaningless to anyone who doesn't know what the columns mean, and you don't have to tell that to Google. And you can of course replace the labels with any othe

We don't know how many emails a day he was dealing with. Clearly, he wasn't ignoring email over this period, so many he was already keeping up with 30, 50, 100, 200 emails and this was just the excess.

But, if the other shortener is returning a 301 'permanent redirect' isn't it fully within the letter and spirit of the http spec to forget it and remember the target. If the shortener was only returning an 302 then removing from the chain w

I have found memories of pages and pages of BASIC typed in. And a very well remembered (and still relevant) lesson that once you've typed it all in, you should type 'SAVE' before you type 'RUN' Finding typos that you've made is a great way

Putting the number of 'slots' available on the signup page is interesting. I wonder what the rationale for this is ... and it lets you infer what rate of signups they are getting (assuming it isn't just a marketing gimmick). The fact that

Is there some scientific methodology for this kind of trial? If I knew I was participating in an experiment and I get presented with this kind of artificial test then I know they are looking for some kind of response, and my actions are hig
