I would love if all games let you change the font and font size. I loved Fire Emblem: Three Houses, but god, I’m too nearsighted to deal with text that small.

I’ve only ever seen the word “hypergamy” used by red pill maniacs. If that’s the case, his scientific basis is bitterness and pseudoscience.

I don't mean to be rude to the author, but I found this style of writing difficult to read. Too verbose, too full of asides, to focused on himself and not the actual information. Makes getting useful information out of the text needles

And the thing is, I don’t mind they put a weird, shallow keyboard and one USB C port on that 12” MacBook. They were trying to make the lightest laptop they could. Those compromises made sense. The same compromises made no sense on high-end

> If your only offering is “X, but we won’t ban you” then you’re going to collect the dregs of the internet. Exactly. They’re the only people you have a value proposition for. Everyone else will just use X.

I’m not a Facebook fan, but it is incorrect to say they sell data. They collect data, build a profile of you and your interests and sell access to your eyeballs to advertisers.

So often people get emotional about languages and frameworks. They’re tools, and tools have trade offs. The “Why Not” section recognizes that. Super impressive.

I think normal users do have a fear of installing software on desktop. There's this fear of "viruses." They know they exist, they don't know how they work, but they know you shouldn't install anything or you'll

That is very smart. My old employer gave me a 3% raise in January and tried to make it some big gift. I left anyway in April for a 50% bump. New company, same level of responsibilities. The old employer underpays everyone, so that percentag

Oh, absolutely. I got excited for the SwiftUI .toolbar modifier last year. It was wildly broken during the betas, and they just... didn't fix it for iOS 14's launch. No idea if it works now, but definitely a lesson in the dangers

That's the name of the game with Apple development, unfortunately. Every year, I get excited for all these cool new SwiftUI features at WWDC and wait 2+ years to actually use them.

This reminds me of a saying I read on Stratechery: Workers tweet, managers email. Public discussions are good for, you know, the public. Keeping things private just means the manager is the only one who knows the whole picture.

A great point. It's easy for an exec to say, "We should buy Wickr to make it easier to land government contracts." You still have to integrate Wickr in a way that makes sense and actually adds value.

Right. Voice assistants are a much harder format for Google, because you can’t just display a list of links. I ask my tube a question, I expect one (1) correct answer.

Absolutely. Microsoft doesn't have a large existing Windows Store business to protect, so why not make Apple's life harder? I think it's also the solution that best meets the reality of apps in 2021. Big third-party devs like

I agree, the author's application of "the cruelty is the point" misuses the phrase. The article coining that term [1] (accurately) describes the collective joy Trump fans experience at his rallies when he promises to have Ame

For me, remote work gives personal options. My wife got a job in a small Southern college town. It'll be great for her career, but there are zero, zero tech jobs there. Remote lets me grow my career while she grows hers.
