A cool coffee table book on this subject is "Kowloon large illustrated" (ISBN 4000080709) by Iwanami Shoten. Even if you can't read Japanese, the photos and illustrations are great.

I've never understood putting your phone in your back pocket. Why sit on an $800-$1000 device? For me, it is not comfortable, and I would be paranoid about it falling out when sitting down or getting pick-pocketed. Can someone help me

You can still find them even in the suburbs of Minneapolis, though I haven't personally seen anyone use them in years.

I'm the same way, but I'm also conflicted. I see the many advantages of an electric engine and an automatic transmission. However, whenever I am forced to drive even an ICE automatic, I feel so disconnected. I am willing to conced

Minneapolis (MSP) has a decent viewing area. No holes in the fence, but most spotters just stand on the tables or benches. The location is the best part since it is essentially in the center of the airfield. https://goo.gl/m

I have a book of these on my desk right now. If you are not in Japan, I highly recommend ordering directly from the publisher. The books usually have English rules, but if not they are available on the website. It is really nice taking a br

I've had jellyfish in Taiwan and Japan, and it had a similar numbing effect. It didn't taste like much, but the numbing was novel enough for me to want to eat more.

One thing that I've done in these situations is keep all the accessories with the thing that needs it. For example, I have a small box attached to the inside of my home theater PC. Inside the box are various cables I might need for rep

I highly recommend visiting the Edo-Tokyo Museum. It is full of replica buildings (including a full bridge spanning one of the floors) and super intricate models depicting life in Edo.

When I first tried snowboarding after skateboarding for many years, the hardest part to get used to was being strapped into the board. I instinctively wanted to adjust the position of my feet and run out of falls.

This is disappointing. I really enjoyed this service for watching old samurai and yakuza films. I also appreciated that they highlighted films that were leaving the service soon, so I could prioritize any that were on my watch list.

For my uses, the actual Netflix player is by far better than Prime Video. I watch a lot of anime and foreign films. Prime Video seems to equate subtitles with closed-captions, and the font is harder to read. Netflix has the skip intro/

Same here. I would like to see a version of the LOTR/Hobbit that has a "minimap" somewhere in the margins when locations are mentioned.
