This is an interesting idea, but I'm not sure how you could gather enough metrics from using the logo for one day to evaluate its suitability. My guess is that the daily effect of the logo on the site's metrics would be low.

It's unlikely the Logic Pro team were disclosed on the iOS 7 design direction before WWDC. Even if there was a push to "flatten" Logic, it would have been too late in the cycle to do it for this release.

Thanks Zach. I don't think the changes were directed towards the web either - they were a side effect: > As a side effect, they’ve embraced conventions that will be hard to emulate with commodity hardware or web tech.

The Apple founders would be unable to get funding these days. They wouldn't even get a meeting. This was true in the 70s as well. The Apple founders had to rely on revolving credit from the parts suppliers to get the parts they needed to

All good points. The big difference with the bridge going to Objective-C, though, is that I believe it is now possible to build a native UI by calling right from JavaScript to Objective-C. Impact is interesting for games and canvas-like ren

My guess is that this would be fast enough to build almost any Mac app and many iOS apps. The bigger question for me is, how gross would it be to deal with the "Objective-C-ness" of the Cocoa APIs through JavaScript?

Collecting and using my private info to, say, recommend friends in their UI is something I could imagine a product manager doing on purpose. Creepy, but you can see why they would think this is helpful. Spamming every number in my phone boo

Maybe I'm naive, but it seems just so insanely bad that I assumed no product manager or engineer would intentionally cause this behavior.

Of course it was a bug. It seems clear to me they were experimenting with some texting functionality where Path would notify users of things, it made it to production with bugs, and some subset of users got this terrible behaviour. Never as

The process described only works in the US. Internationally, you need to contact DNB and go through the multi-week horror. Eduardo appears to be in Brazil.

We were on Dropbox for Teams but these kinds of problems forced us to go back to the personal accounts plus shared folders model. The problem is, our shared folders DO count towards the individuals' space limits. So, we have seven people's

I fon't think resale value is why most worry about it, but ptobably some. If scratches decrease resale value so much, it seems those in the market for a luxury car should seek out a scratched one.

Indeed. I don't intentionally damage new things, but people are often surprised that I don't agonize over keeping my phone, car, or laptop looking brand new. The idea of a scratched Honda sort bothers people, but idea of a scratched Audi ma

It's unusual for Apple to hype something like this, but in that note they mention Mansfield's semiconductor team "have ambitious plans for the future". I doubt that simply refers to making the A7 faster and more power-efficient.

I have all my data, media, and documents in Dropbox (80GB) and while I have 11255 zero-byte files, none of them are likely Dropbox's fault. Most of them are empty logfiles, .svn and .git noise in old projects, and the like.

I've long been a SimCity fan, but every edition of the game has suffered from performance problems. It's fine when your city is small, but once it gets large enough to be interesting, it's unbearably slow. I've learned that the real minimum

Thanks a lot! We have two projects in the lab: - Party Monster, a general casual DJ app with crossfade, queueing, etc. - Event DJ, a more generalized and pro version of WeddingDJ that could be marketed to conferences, small theatres, etc.

Intuitively, I'd agree. When we release the upcoming major version (iPad support, advanced queueing, etc) I'd like to try $10. On the other hand, after 1.5 years at $5 we've been trying $2, and revenue has been consistently higher since the
