The whole "serverless" fad is about lock-in. I also really wish they would not have squatted that term. It should refer to decentralized P2P systems which are truly serverless.

Our web site kind of sucks. We're going to be working with a design/marketing firm to re-do it soon. It's kind of hard to explain ZeroTier sometimes. Its so simple (to the user) people have a hard time getting it. "You j

I mean users' devices and to a lesser extent things like federated infrastructure that's "closer to the user" socially speaking. It's a trend in the earliest stages, sort of like cloud was in the early 2000s.

We are doing fine and V2 is coming soon with a ton of improvements. I just have to occasionally point out our existence again. The pulldown showing other devices on a network does look spiffy but that wont scale. We have users with thousand

The problem is that there is more than one market here. There is a general market where people love the vendor looking after their security and doing things for them, and there is a pro/hacker market where people want to control things

All of these complaints are about security features. Yes these features could be better implemented, but I'm happy they're there. It's very important to be able to opt out of them, but I like that they're the default. No

It exposes a lot of indirect info about what you may be doing, writing, etc. I know in a high security environment that is a no no. Its also the principle. Lastly its trust. I tolerate some telemetry from Apple and sometimes opt into it wit

Reading this confirms that I was right to pick Go for a couple things. My very strong opinion is that the language should impose as little cognitive load as possible . Rust seems like it makes you think a lot about Rust, which means you ar

C++ can be a nice language if you are disciplined with it, but being disciplined means not using every feature and using features only when they make code clearer or higher quality.
