If you took Jesus' teachings and stripped the name off, would most of these people agree with them? Things like welcoming the foreigner and treating them as one of your own, not judging others, etc.? I don't think using the name a

The way I see it, we build technology to be what we are not and do what we can’t do or things we can do but better or faster. An unpredictable fallible machine is useless to us because we have 7+ billion carbon based ones already.

This is why I’m not sure most users actually want AGI. They want special purpose experts that are good at certain things with strictly controlled parameters.

I’ve always seen American evangelism as a political movement first and a religious one second. This impression has strengthened quite a bit in recent years as it’s become clear that political movements and politicians that are diametrically

Short form video content in general is ludicrously addictive. All infinite scroll is addictive but there’s something particularly strong when it’s short videos that each deliver some kind of hook or punch line. I landed on YouTube shorts on

The best are the one trick doctors don’t tell you or the thing THEY don’t want you to know about. A lot of scams and cons are deliberately stupid looking and absurd to pre-select for gullible marks. It’s also why goofy conspiritainment show

Why is that only a problem for democracy? It’s one of the central problems of civilization and has been discussed by philosophers since the Greeks. In monarchies you’d often end up with kings and people in line for the throne being murdered

Most of the anger from regular folk comes from the reinflation of the housing bubble, continuing to price two generations out of home ownership. If you want to see why people are mad look at what is actually causing them pain. For young peo

It’s a recession being masked by two things: inflation making nominal numbers not go down, and the fact that stock markets have fully decoupled from the actual economy. They are just casinos now.

Smaller subs can still be decent but I agree about popular and larger subs. They’re just brain rot and engagement bait now.

Microsoft really seems to be tripling and quadrupling down on total surveillance of the user's "own" system. If you haven't ditched MS yet, I'd consider it now. Linux is becoming more and more viable for a gaming PC

Uhh... how about show me both? I think that's always been true. The ideas and reasoning process matter. So does the end product. If you produced it with an LLM and it sucks, it still sucks.

Pricing mostly, and also simplicity. Big cloud is incredibly expensive when you really look at it. The markup is huge. It’s weird because in most of this industry scale results in lower prices. Not in cloud.
