Read or watch the talk he gave that he links to. He talks about how his big "break" came about from writing a yaml parser for Php that had "70" downloads. Hardly "famous." I think his point is that releasing code allows you to show that you

Have you looked at http://github.com/defunkt ? For the record, he open sources lots of stuff. It may not be github that's open sourced, but notice he says "open source" ." open source people don't always agree on making sure everything is

There's no doubt that abuse can happen in a model that allows openness. But, if you're worried about your inferior programmers abusing features of the language, that's a management problem. Do code reviews and hire people that aren't going

Why yes, you happen to be correct. It can be done with cat and grep, and really you can do it without cat! However, it's perhaps desirable to be able to do things like edit the todo/tofix, delete them, export them to your todo application

I started building a script to go through source code and find all the things I tag "TOFIX" or "TODO." For example: $ python tofix.py tofix.py line 3: ... line 16: this needs some attention as we shouldn't be using 'pass' not

Let me be the first to get out of the way all of the complaints: 1. Why didn't they just use Twisted? 2. Why didn't they predict tornado and make it better? 3. Yeah, but (tornado|twisted|my half baked implementation) is still faster at serv
