GDP is a proxy for economic output. This is a static collection of a certain element producing nothing.

I have the exact same stack (macbook pro in stead of mini) and swapped from qwen to: https://huggingface.co/ornith-ai/Ornith-1.5-35B-A3B Literally today, but it feels like an improvement.

I personally know 5 people using Macs with their unified memory for OpenClaw / Hermes. Also the demand is really there. Or do you think Apple just removed certain options from sale for fun in stead of RAM being out of stock?

Watching the US go from laughing at "silly EU bureaucrats making regulations" to "oh shit there's a national, privately owned AI surveillance network already" in two years is interesting.

I was not aware this comic was a reation to new developments for US-CAN. I thought it was just a generic take on tarrifs and responded accordingly. I agree the current US strategy behind tariffs is pretty retarded. Good example of fools try

Oh this is a good point. I was not aware of new developments with US-Canada today, that makes the more-than-normal stingy reactions expected. Sorry, I'm European and can't keep up with the erratic US Gov. I read a summary at the e

I am European... Tariffs are completely normal here we protect our workers all the time. It seems I've 'stung the wasps nest' on HN by not denouncing them outright it seems.

It's not a perfect example of course but the gist that tariffs do and should protect workers is true. Tariffs aren't inherently bad, they're a tool.

Imagine a factory line where each worker makes 10 items per hour. In, say, China a worker doing 996 will make 720 items. Te average working hours in the Netherlands are 36 hours or so per week. Making 360 items. As long as there is free tra

This is a pretty reductive take. If a nation works 6 days a week, 12 hours a shift then obviously they will outcompete any nation where people work 5 days a week for 8 hours. Protecting workers from that kind of competition seems fair. Tari

Since you're British just imagine finding gas in Northern Scotland (on land, not on sea!) but control over it is in London. Imagine how that would roughly unfold over a period of 70 years. Sorry, I'm on mobile and it's a comp

As a Dutch person I can confirm this article is: 1) Roughly correct chronologically. 2) COMPLETELY devoid of the actual political reasons behind this being done.

Same for ICE. Clamping down on illegal immigration makes sense, but it doesn't make sense for ICE to behave like some unaccountable secret police that hires the biggest assholes they can find who can then do whatever they want. To yo

This isn't new. "Lies. Damned lies and Statistics" as a phrase is already quite old. Many people selectively shop around statistics that match their prejudice or their social circles social etiquettes.

Great product, been using it for a while. Turns out even a proxy can be worth $8bn with the right business model behind it. Users get an array of providers competing behind a single API, meaning they have to compete on price and quality not

During the whole BLM thing a few years ago my emplyer wanted "to do something" I guess so they added one of those "inclusive language" SaaS buttons. This seems more plausible to me. "Bosom peril" is not in any

I don't think most of those votes are about hating foreigners. Some people believe the story they get every day, that the country is broken and that immigrants are the problem. I just don't understand this. It's not about h

It was for me too but the new deepseek pricing is too good to ignore for now. I honestly think that with my electricity prices running qwen 36B myself is more expensive than hitting the cache rate at deepseek.

It really barely matters. Even if the US closes itself of for Chinese models; Europe won't. The rest of the world won't. Even a completely closed US economy would not merit the current valuations Antrophic and OpenAI have.

Then Apple M series is also a joint European-American effort, no? Since ARM is European? Weirdly enough it never seems to work that way in discourse.

I also tested tailscale, headscale and netbird and found all these drain your battery on mobile. Others report no issues but I had massive drain on iOS even with only 4 connections open. Native wireguard is unnoticeable.
