For some applications, it's valuable to have globally-unique addresses even if they're not (all) broadly accessible from the open Internet. For example, if you're building private links between networks which don't share

Someone has thoughtfully folded Plex Sans JP in with Plex Mono to make a nice monospace which also handles Japanese pretty well. It's called PlemolJP[1]. I've been using it for one of my projects[2] and have been happy with it. [1

Around here, you'd spread the work of one new server to folks you've already got or spread the cost of new hires to a large number of servers. I think it's also worth considering that many outfits wouldn't get good value

The companies I've worked for have had periodic (every 6 or 12 months) performance evaluations with associated pay adjustments. The pay adjustment would be broken out into a cost-of-living increase (notionally tracking inflation) and a

I'd lean toward restoring from backup either way, since the hardware failure might have caused data corruption that's not immediately obvious.

What a coincidence! I just finished reading this. It's the work of many authors, so you may find it a little uneven. But overall I found it to be an outstanding document. It helped me get the lay of the land quickly and easily, coming

The suggestion below to search for "1u server" is probably good to get a feel for what the overall used market is like and what relative availability is. It helps to keep up a little with the product line of whoever moves a lot of

eBay has a good selection. I prefer to buy from sellers that specialize in server gear -- the descriptions are usually more complete/accurate and they'll (hopefully) know how to pack things so they arrive in good shape. If you hav

I've been doing this for a while and it's great. If you know a few tricks (optional closing tags, for example), writing HTML by hand can actually be rather pleasant. Go for it!
