I associate it with Figma so I imagine its popularity extends beyond devs and into designers in general. That said, it feels like a trend that will eventually settle down again.

Don’t split your app into frontend/backend and instead use a single framework like Django or Ruby. If you’re just building a crud app you likely don’t need the power of a JavaScript frontend and you’re just doubling your work.

I can't believe how much better non-alcoholic beers are these days. In the Ireland/UK, Guinness 0.0 is almost as good as the real thing. Heineken 0.0 is great lager as well as Lucky Saint. Punk AF is an OK IPA replacement (don

Also, do you have developers available to work on the website? Do you have designers available? How many viewers do you expect? How often do you publish?

I think the "magic link" (a.k.a passwordless) method of authentication is actually great for the average user, particularly as many (most?) of them will be on mobile, where passwords are an absolutely pain. They're also usefu

I also asked a similar question yesterday: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31938452 Which might have some insight. I’m also a full stack dev that is a bit confused on who can actually benefit from static sites like thi

I usually write it myself with Django, Django REST Framework and JWTs alongside either Vue.js or Ember (and their with libraries). Truth be told, I usually hate having to do it. That said I’ve never found a reasonable alternative. There are

If you go ahead with this, you’re not building a website, you’re building an app - essentially a micro e-commerce platform. I’ve built out a custom e-commerce app with Django for a client. Very similar to your requirements - product options

I pay for Ngrok as a few of the apps I work on require local SSL for payment testing. Every time ngrok is mentioned people here say “but you could do it yourself”. I assume this would mean registering a domain and setting up Nginx and letse

If you’re making screenshare style instructional videos, Camtasia and Screenflow are the two that come to mind. Camtasia is probably the more polished of the two. Make sure you get a good mic if you are recording yourself (Blue Yeti is a we

For me it's the asynchronous nature. You can essentially have a conversation throughout the day (or over the course of a few days) without the pressure of having to organise a call at a particular time that works for both.

You haven’t mentioned whether you have a proper mic. If you don’t it should be the first thing you spend money on. There are many options at many different price points. Lots of people use a Blue Yeti which is around $100. Shure MV7 is a go
