AFAIK it was a signature update, and the existing code couldn't understand the new signatures with a 2022 timestamp. IMHO, signatures still should have been deployed to an early ring before broad release. Antimalware signatures as code

It’s Active Directory, not storage, compute, & networking. Major, to be sure, but hardly the cloud being down like the recent AWS outage.

It looks like Azure Active Directory, so O365 would be hit harder than Azure I imagine because most services in Azure are still using storage access keys and whatnot given that AAD auth for data plane is fairly recent in most offerings. I.e

When will we switch to memory safe (but reasonably performant) languages like Go/Rust/C#? Performance critical sections could remain in C/C++, but MOST code doesn’t need the kind of performance C/C++ provides. Hopefully

This article doesn’t provide much substance, other than listing directors that were Catholic and a rouge Agent who also happened to be Catholic. I was expecting a revelation but sadly this just seems like a clickbait title at worst, and a b

If you want to write a game, there’s Unity. Or you could make some kind of REST API with ASP.NET Core or gRPC.

Agree the UI story has been rough. .NET MAUI seems promising, yes? Outside of JavaScript, what other (good) multi platform UI frameworks are out there? And I’m hesitant to call JS good, with the amount of slow, laggy, resource intensive app

Microsoft did - in both Azure AD [1] and Bing [2],[3]. 1 and 2 from .NET Framework to .NET Core, but [3] is to .NET 5. [1] https://devblogs.microsoft.com/dotnet/azure-active-directory... [2] https://devblogs

There’s work beyond the runtime, too. They wrote a gRPC library [1],and a high performance JSON library [2]. Granted, these are .NET libraries, but still. [1] https://github.com/grpc/grpc-dotnet [2] https://

I run a full dual stack service in Azure [1]. I couldn’t get instance level IPv6 working, but everything else works in both v4 and v6. I will echo that many Azure services don’t support v6 yet, though. https://docs.microsoft.co

I'm confused. If iCloud backups are not encrypted [1], and this only scans iCloud photos, why can't they just do this server side? I'm not saying server-side is OK, but its at least not device side (which is obviously a slipp

I’m appalled this is even on HN. - If you are an atheist, would you sell it for $5? If the answer is no, why sell it for more? What value can you place on your soul (or someone’s idea of it)? - If someone is willing to pay much more than $5

Indeed. I feel like many companies have their IT systems in varying levels of disrepair. Just look at the sheer amount of data breaches. At least this wasn’t a security breach (though I’d imagine (hope?) that it’d wouldn’t impact aircraft i
