97% of users in India are prepaid - that is almost 550m users. You can get a pre-paid connection without paying anything and recharge options start from Rs 10(20 cents). 1 minute call costs less than 2 cents. Free cell phone plans are not p

India is an impoverished nation. More than 55% of people are severely malnourished. To top it, the militant brahmanic Hindutva of North India advocates vegetarianism - which equates to further lack of proteins. And the caste system that loo

I have always felt that scripting languages should stay clear of OO syntax largely. Try to do small files which are procedural. OO is for large monolithic modules - good to collabarate and manage complexity - scripting should stay where it

This is the story of every large company out there including Google. With size, comes structure, and with structure bureaucracy. Metrics take the place of intelligence and straight jacketing becomes the norm. Some companies (like some peopl

Dominance requires sound economics - and this is what will determine the future course of history. Lookout for China, it is not falling aprt - but will be the economic superpower of the world by 2018. And beware of India, which will relegat

The first tablet was a failure. It did not reach students, and the limited ones that eventually made to users had huge quality issues. I am not very hopeful of this version either, given the fact that it is promoted by India's notoriously c

Python and ruby are just scripting languages - Java is a structured type safe language which is battle hard. No comparison!

At two extremes 1) You want to develop something fast and dirty - Go for scripting language. Out of them PHP is the dirtiest and fastest out of gate and thus the best choice. 2) Want someting battle hard with lots of extendability - Go for

Unfortunatley, from language design perspective, both PHP and JavaScript are down right horrible. But they get the work done. In general dynamically typed scripting languages are playgrounds for errors - a statically typed paradigm might he

Emerging markets are directly transitioning to mobile instead of web. Developed markets will take little more time to shake off legacy. But if you are starting today, you are ignoring mobile at your peril.

Don't really understand what you are saying. What prevents you from changing the JSON data that you display within a native screen at any given time? HTML is not the only way to transfer data out there and interpretation is totally upto the

I agree .. what I meant when I said 'web is dead' is the new web is made of services accessed through apps. Crappy front end technology and mega monolith browser are no longer required.

Do you think it matters to a company with a substantial mobile user base - and tons of money? HTML5 is for cheapos.

There is no excuse for using HTML5 when the native platform offers you so much more and the user base is substantial. Only cheapos try to get away with it. Web is dead, welcome to app economy!

I for one never touch an ORM if possible. Coding for SQL in code is not that difficult, but sure it leads to SQL lock in. But you don't expect to change your underlying data model and scheme so often, and if you ever do, you most probably n

SpaceX is definitely cheaper to NASA. But it is not really cheap considering space programs like that of India (ISRO). For example PSLV used for Chandrayaan-1 costs $17m per flight. A little outsourcing won't hurt NASA here.
