I agree but it's not different than C with a decent library of data structures. And even when you become more borrow checker aware and able to anticipate most of the issues, still there are cases where the solution is either non obviou

Ignoring failures is a bad idea, but in many applications quitting on malloc() retiring NULL is the most sensibile thing to do. Many, but not all kinds of applications.

The Awair Element works very well in my experience. If you check the sensors list, the sum of the cost of just the sensors (that are very high quality ones) will match the total cost of the device. And the software and the design are great

In case somebody is interested: there are decent ST77xx based displays for a lot less than $20 for the 2" size. Otherwise, with $20 you can get a much larger one on AliExpress, always based on the same chip so compatible with the code

MicroPython is mostly compatible with Python 3, not much missing. There are even a few things MP has and Python has not, like the Viper code emitter. So the fact it's MicroPython does not make it less interesting.

Cool. Yep, piezos only produce current while the mechanical stress changes its shape, but if the load is stable, no current is performed, so I guess that's the reason why you need to apply an alternating current to it in order to use

Other two reversible effects that are not cited in the thread: 1. Peltier effect. 2. Piezoelectric effect. The second one is especially useful in DYI stuff since you can use a piezo speaker in order to generate a current when mechanically s

I switched from ESP32 to the RP2040 because it's a much more reliable and documented device. My only concern right now with the RP2040 is that there are many ESP32 models with SPIRAM but it's not so simple to find a SPIRAM equip

Thanks to the authors for remembering in a highlighted section the disturbed genius of Ettore Majorana. He was from Catania, Sicily, where I live: if not for a few schools with his name he is hardly remembered by young generations.

When I was doing databases, I formulated this joke-theorem of modern computing: Whatever reasonable and widespread database/language you use to model your application, if you do things sensibly, it will work well. A corollary is that:

Well, this is a very fucked-up situation. When I was a child, during 80s, most of the Sicily / North Italy goods shipping was by train / boat, and we had good railways. Then a decision was made to favor trucks: I don't know w

Actually the exact reverse is true: the flights are in general overpriced during vacation seasons because emigrates are desperate to return home and stay with their families a few days. So airways companies exploit this fact. They are cheap
