Yeah, but no. Having a graph for metadata feels overkill. I'd rather opt for key-values, like ID3 or EXIF. The French expression "usine à gaz" comes to my mind: https://en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/usine_%C3%

I can't find a good reference, but there was a "standard" process for being creative: Step 0: Get yourself in front of a paper or whiteboard. Eliminate distractions. Step 1: Get all of the BS out of your head. Whatever comes

This is a great opportunity that humanity has lost. Imagine all the stuff that we could have done with some kind of universal metadata format, understood both by applications and OSes: - You could have indexed all files on your computer or

Thanks for highlighting this! I was getting the feeling that search has become increasingly crappier. Not just Spotify, but also in other places like Google, Facebook and DuckDuckGo. Search for anything and you'll get something "p

Plus codes are pretty much like GPS coordinates, but made by Google: https://maps.google.com/pluscodes/ For some reason Google Maps throws plus codes at you, but requires you to dig deeper to find GPS coordinates.

I'm about to organise a family road trip and I can see how this tool can make that so much more informative and fun. I currently rely on an Google Sheet and Google Maps List, which is a bit tiring. I'd like to see the following fe

Right? I embraced rejection therapy and the results were scary good. A whole new world opened up, not only in romance, but sales, financing, recruitment, etc.

Unfortunately, I get the feeling that that is compensated by increasing risk. Attackers have found clever ways to monetize their work beyond just "fun". Hence, I feel the overall "security damage" has kind of stayed cons

Also cleverness is overrated. You might be able to be clever once, but mid-term you will struggle to keep up with "collective cleverness". Sure today you might implement a better authentication code than the one offered in your fa

I think people really exaggerated with the microservices trend. Today, I recommend to keep code in the same executable unless there is a good reason not to. Good reasons include: - Stateful vs stateless: databases and message queues shoul

When I visited my mom in Romania, I was amazed that hair dressers filled *exactly this purpose*. It almost felt like you were "Googling" for 30 minutes and getting a haircut as a side-effect. Customer: How is the newly opened Spa?

Grotesque question: What is on the "war invoice" for Russia? Rockets, fighter jets and tanks were already paid for. Fuel costs zero if you are a dictatorship with petrol in your backyard. Salaries are probably just printed money.
