You're making a lot of assumptions about what I am and am not saying. Check my profile if you want to see how I think Python should be introduced (hint: by doing actual stuff). TL;DR: Beyond the very basics, PHP is only going to frustrate b

Yep, he doesn't seem to have any idea of how a breadboard works. In fact, he's got it completely backwards (LEDs on the power rails and power rails in the component rows). It probably won't blow the ports with the resistors there, but it de

I see your point, but it's the same point that every other pro-PHP person has made. PHP lets you get stuff done fast... but in a few weeks (or even days depending on the person) Python and Ruby will have overtaken you, because all of the tu

And that's not counting all of the messes that are inflicted on you as a user of PHP - security holes and password breaches or having to interface with some crappy API to get stuff done. At least with PHP it's likely to be some vaguely HTTP

I tried that once, but found it a bit too distracting -- too much overenthusiastic DJ voice over in it to really get into the zone while programming.

PHP doesn't really have any strengths any more. The last one was ease of use and setup, but nginx and FastCGI seem to have beaten that too. The only things keeping it around as far as I can see are: * the huge lock-in with existing code + k

People hate PHP because it's an incredibly stupid and frustrating language to use, and most of the people who use it don't know anything else. The money comes from them fucking things up, and their boss having to call in people who know wha

Why would you do that? You're going to have to have a branch to deal with the -1 further down in your code anyway. Why not just deal with it when it happens: if value not in list: # value not found return index = list.inde

You realise that there are tools to get around the problems that you describe? Linters and automated testing will both catch the sorts of problems that you're having.

PHP sites will have a hell of a lot more of them, though. You're not shielded against CSRF, XSS or SQL injection attacks unless you use a framework - at which point you're back to being a programmer with no "empowered amateur" in sight...

That's really just wallhacking and aimbotting - not really an AI as such. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a human doing the pathfinding with a 'shoot them in the head' button. If your FPS allows you to shoot with pixel perfect precisio

You could make the client run other player's CPUs, perhaps ones from accounts on a different server. If it's not someone you know or are playing with, then there's less incentive to cheat. You could even pass the same work to multiple clien

It's not especially broad, and you can apply the same line of thinking to other games like Starcraft. APS uber alles and all that... FPSes are somewhat different, but they tend not to have bot problems because FPSes are fun to play, and don

Most of the games which end up fighting tooth-and-nail trench warfare against bots are just boring games. I don't think expressing that opinion is arrogance, per se. Take games like minecraft or first person shooters like TF2, for example -

Then the game is too simple. Rather than hunt down bots, they should make a more interesting game. The bots are a symptom , not a problem in themselves.

My personal take on this is that if your game is going to suffer because of bots (assuming that they're not cheating bots, and are bound by the same rules as the players) then your game is broken and/or stupid, and the choices that your pla

Using the array module for registers and memory might be even better - you're not likely to want to randomly add a register or memory bank.

That Cell class looks a bit odd, and I can't imagine it's doing good things for your memory use. Perhaps you could simplify it by making your registers a list or a dictionary, rather than a tuple? ie. self.registers = { 'A': 0x0000, ...

Bear in mind that a lot of grains and beans are fairly toxic in themselves - plants don't want you to eat their seeds. So whole grain might actually be just as bad for you as the refined stuff, just in different ways. Gluten is one aspect o
