Would that open up conspiracies about the end of the 'secret ballot'?

IMO I find the platform to be mentally abusive for me. It's a whirlwind of stirring emotions, shocking content, and 'earworms' everywhere, where memes iteratively compound into their own nonsensical language at a faster rate

I bought a kneeling chair during the pandemic. I've used and enjoyed them in the past, so I already knew what I was getting into. They are pretty hard to adjust to, and IMO one ought not stay on one for several hours at a time, but aft

Name should be: "Jason Stanley on critical race theory and why it matters" as that is the article's title. The article is also more opinionated than the simpler title of this post suggests. For the record, I find that critica

Who is "they"? Some article in a newspaper? A handful of researchers and futurists? Edit: Got it. It's from a list of unsurprising predictions from [at least] the marketing department of the World Economic Forum. Thanks.

I agree with that. Of course, this does not necessarily imply that a large people will not choose to believe in a grand conspiracy regardless of whether or not such a conspiracy actually exists.

On the 'vouch' option, this seems helpful. However, at some point one just accidentally creates a tier of "Super Upvotes" and "Super Downvotes". Trying to establish a reasonable heuristic/estimate/a

Though Dr. Chomsky's interpretation may be prescient in many respects, the title of your post is misleading, as he does not mention former Pres. Trump by name. As such, the title ought to be what the original title was (along with the

Nice article. Just a good reminder to think about the 'unwritten objects' which emerge out of one's code and to compose those sensibly as well. Kinda reminds me of contracts -- it's not what's written in the contrac

Not everyone is a hack. Some people use nuance as a bludgeon, but that fact wouldn’t imply that hand-waiving away details is somehow a valid approach.

I disagree. The article also clarifies why that price seems higher than it actually is (e.g. the program may reduce costs of policing elsewhere in the city by providing an orderly source of food and water (which that cost also includes)).

The title of this post has been editorialized to be more provocative. The NPR article is actually titled “High Cost Of Los Angeles Homeless Camp Raises Eyebrows And Questions” and is far less inflammatory than this title suggests.

Why is ~$500,000,000 a lot of money for the homeless? The CA budget is hundreds of billions of dollars, and there’s a lot of people who live in that state.

My argument on why it's polarizing is largely historical. Javascript was a hot mess for decades. I stepped away from web design for a while simply because accomplishing anything meaningful in js always felt like a hacky mess to me. At

In theory the tax write-off makes sense: instead of the government serving as a middleman for charities and making political decisions on who-gets-what, it allows the citizens to more freely support the charities they like directly. Sadly,

This is in part a study to help find out what disabled people might need in space to better inform future designs to accommodate their needs. Space travel isn’t getting less common so it’s a good idea to prepare for this. This is a good t

You’re overthinking it. This is a study to better inform the needs of disabled people in space. You know, for the future. I happen to think that research about the types of accommodations needed for people with disabilities is valuable, and
