There's the art of disposing of not the cheapest things when they bother you. Then you get self-regulating process: you find disposing of some kinds of things too often and end up not caring about these kinds of things and buying the 'worst

There's a composition I like very much, by GY!BE, "She Dreamt She Was a Bulldozer, She Dreamt She Was Alone in an Empty Field". Maybe you could do similar genre?

Then the browser localizes for you what it can and you'll get a very ugly-looking page that is almost all in e.g. French and dates in English. Seen that with some CMS which auto-localize their UI but not content, obviously.

It's no design flaw, it's constraining your problem to find the most efficient solution within those constraints.

Is it not strange to call it an Atom? Atom is etymologically indivisible, when here we can have arbitrary structure.

Well, local banks here seem to be compatible with everything plus Opera Mobile. Their web clients were developed not so long ago, when it was already unacceptable to have IE-only sites.

They are going to integrate Opera Turbo to make it faster over slow networks. Also they have some new caching technology currently used by their Maps.

Yes, and with dots it would be less obvious that people are reinventing the whole XML ecosystem. Someone should design a meta-language (probably based on s-expressions) that would easily represent all Object Notations and Markup Languages a

Application UX inconsistency is a Mac thing AFAIK. Yes they all look 'pretty' and 'likable', but not consistent. Most decent Windows apps are modeled one after another and are very consistent. They have such things as status bars, sidebars,

Can't you use cash? I honestly can't understand most of the comments as it seems here in Russia there's no concept of a check, or at least no 'real person' ever used anything like that.

There was an article about HFT recently [0] that mentioned a case where social influence is of small importance: the game is played beyond human capabilities even when really needed. [0] http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=4339531

Good analogy to C++ vs C. C++ gives you a lot of power previously unavailable, as git does. And there seems to be no canonical ways to do anything neither in C++ nor in git. And that does confuse a lot!

Better yet, "Don't let anything over what you have no control whatsoever be a mission critical part of a project". If that single company can be heavily influenced by you, risks are acceptable.

As I understand, the complexity is not much worse than O(A * K), where A is upscaled image area and K is approximate KNN lookup time in a dataset of all tiles for all scales. The question is, how fast is KNN on such high-dimensional data.

It would be interesting to integrate with OCR on a deep level, preserving tile correspondence within the image to achieve coherent recognition. Most real-world OCR, though, deals with single-scale fonts, and this reconstruction technique ma
