Then of course use OpenCV. Their face detector is very good.

AFAIK, Face.com provides face recognition, not only detection. They've presented their approach at YaC'2011 here in Moscow, and it is quite sophisticated. Not VJ at all.

And since the same 2010 most laptop trackpads do have two-finger scrolling. Not so smooth as in Mac, but that's Windows limitation: in linux the scrolling is smooth.

Offtopic, but do you think anyone would consider writing video processing library in Java, is the technology that mature?

I surely can predict that in 5 "light" years C++, even C, will not become obsolete. I know of a very innovative company which still uses almost exclusively Visual C++ 2008 (they do some heavy image processing and OCR).

For offline analysis, I'd eagerly agree. But have you had any success with FP for online analysis? E.g. you have 100 time series updating every second, and must yield some other series and events.

«very independent in the school and in the company of her classmates, but still very dependent at home» seems to be very typical of young people here in Russia, good point.

Do I understand right that id_rsa is an equivalent of password.txt in that you have big broblems if someone gets it? In this case I really worry about its being stored in the open in some /users/AppData and not on some TrueCrypt drive that

I wouldn't call OpenCV 'about as mature as a software project can get,' as it's actively developed library with lots of contributors in yet experimental domain (more about mid-level pattern recognition than low-level image filtering). And t

Same with Diablo II compared to more modern RPGs. It's just like low-resolution (yet masterful!) graphics and absence of effects for effects' sake make you think up the details of the game universe.

Moving into deeper fiction, we'll return to 'no software' again: inherent inefficiencies of digital hardware will force us to build analog systems, sort of pure hardware, that will be in fact software for the machine that runs this world.
