And the real problem is the non-uniformity of the load. If your 10M/mo request start concentrating around weekends, you've got a problem... Except you haven't, as your infrastructure is elastic, and this is the real bonus. Also, I'd be very

I presume so, because the VM manager is a critical and very stable component. Even google://'virtual memory "changelog" site:kernel.org' doesn't seem to uncover any significant changes.

I'm not talking about 'traditional' strict hierarchies, but rather about ~3-storey organically evolved scheme where leadership is quite informal and firing is really not an option: our company is quite young and people are the most valuable

I think this is the most important point (I remember coming to a similar conclusion some years ago), but now I think there are a couple of ways around this caveat (mostly applicable to business, but also of some use in personal relationship

Today we've had an interesting discussion at our startup about subordination, and stumbled into a question where do good technical leaders come from. Our CTO's thesis was that no sane technical person wants to be a boss; rather, he'd be doi

Almost all image sensors see near IR very well. Most consumer lens block IR very well, to make image similar to that perceived by human. Not so for CCTV lens: they don't block IR to allow human-invisible lighting via LEDs just like in these

How complicated was the bureocracy that you couldn't push the change into production yourself after verifying that it is a strict speed-up and doesn't break anything? I think such barriers are incompatible with the word 'research', where th
