Well if you moderated comments/users that made threats of physical violence against me I wouldn't be tempted to make posts referencing them. You can't deny seeing the comment in question since you replied to it.

Opportunity cost doesn't make all decisions zero-sum. There is a quirk of human psychology that makes us believe that most things must be zero sum (i.e. that anything I do that improves something I care about must have a 'payback&

Why would they do that? Google isn't a charity. Anything that makes it easier to develop native software (which 'won't-suddenly-disappear' software has to be) is in direct conflict with Google's strategic interests

Xcode doesn't follow the rules that 3rd party apps must follow. It's not possible for a 3rd party to distribute an app like Xcode through the app store.

I'd be happy to write a final version of Chrome for those platforms that was just a "This platform is no longer supported" message. I'd even do it for free.

Morality has nothing to do with money changing hands or not. People would consider it immoral for Google to fail to patch serious vulnerabilities in Chrome on supported platforms, even though Chrome is free. Why? Because Google advertises C

I didn't ask them to maintain it forever. I said they should prevent the insecure versions from running, which is what their current policy is anyway.

ChromeOS isn't an open platform and Chromebooks are dangerously locked down. Microsoft could solve these issues on windows by forbidding software that they don't approve. It would undoubtedly improve the security of the platform.

Vista is getting Extended support until 11 April 2017. Lack of vendor support can't be the reason for dropping these platforms - Chrome has continued to support XP and OS X 10.6 despite those being unsupported for years, and it's

In exchange for taking control of Chrome updates out of the hands of users Google is accepting the moral responsibility for fixing security issues for those users. They are now abandoning those users. I would hope that as a minimum they wou

I'm not sure why you are being downvoted. There are a lot of people still on Windows XP, Windows Vista, OS X 10.6, OS X 10.7 and OS X 10.8. This is dropping support for about 14% of all desktops. That's a lot of people. It's

VLC does all sorts of things that are prohibited by the MAS. For a start you wouldn't be able to open a video file and have VLC automatically pick up an adjacent subtitles file. A lead VLC dev listed a bunch of the issues here: https:

The MAS model means you are getting crippled applications with vastly reduced capability. The article talks about things like uTorrent and VLC. These kinds of apps are impossible in the MAS. MAS apps can also stop running at any time if the

The badger cull is absolutely the only reason this article was written. Note that Ridley is a member of the UK government, so it's not a coincidence that he would be writing an article to defend the UK government's policies.
