Agreed, but the point here is that it makes people more trusting towards it. I am guessing that if it looked more sleek (think: Ferrari) people would be more scared of getting in the vehicle. Big eyes, round shapes, smile without teeth... i

<offtopic> +1 just for mentioning requests (versus urllib). If someone hasn't tried this library yet, they really should. I replaced tons of libcurl / urllib / ... blocks with simple and legible oneliners. Incredible AP

Nice! I wonder if it clears cache too? EDIT: apparently it does. BTW, you can check if you can still be cookie / storage / cache-tracked here: http://www.canyoutrackme.com/

This is (IMHO) a bad UI approach on your side anyway. If these tooltips are valuable, why are they visible (prominently displayed) only on the first visit? And if they are not valuable (most of the sites overvalue their content - visitors s

This project looks nice, but I have used a few of WYSIWYG editors (mainly HTMLarea/Xinha and FSCK/CKeditor) and must say I was NOT impressed with the calls I got from customers: "If I am using IE6 and when edit text I get lot

Exactly! The problem is not that this query was not escaped, the problem was that: 1) unparametrized queries are allowed in code, 2) user input is obviously not properly checked in all cases and 3) that WAF (Web Application Firewall) was no

There is one difference - you need an external tool to properly obfuscate Python source code. :)

I wonder if there are some legal ramifications to this. As far as I understand Packr redistributes Sun/Oracle JRE - does license allow them to do that? AFAIK JRE is under GPL, so it should be OK, but I am guessing Oracle still retained

Not wanting to nitpick, but if attacker manages to unlink("/dev/urandom") then you have bigger problems than just not trusting this one file. Nothing application developer can do will make this system more secure.

Did you try contacting the original authors? For my SW projects I would be thrilled to know about stuff that anooyed someone so much that he went into all the trouble of decompiling/fixing/recompiling. They have a chance to make t

Yes and no. The major mistake is not a missing "S". The major mistake is not performing a test which would show that the change was made (or in this case that it wasn't made).

I agree 100% with the first two sentences - but their strong point is exactly that they finish their products too. It is important to execute projects well (enough) and to add polish too - and Apple excels at that. (to be fair, their UX i

This comment is a bit dismissive. Can you really claim that for iPod, iPhone and iPad? Sure, every invention is based on work of others, but Apple has still made huge improvements on multiple areas.

This is one of the things I love about Linux. There was an announcement at the end of 2012 that kernel will no longer support 386 chip - after 21 years! And distributions will ship older kernels for many additional years. Compare that to MS

This IS a Facebook problem. Whether they are not doing their job properly or customers have problems understanding their platform. But whatever it is, it still affects FB directly, so of course it's their problem.
